I found this book to actually be a great read! It wasn't anything like I expected. There is plenty of suspense and drama and the writing is nicely detailed without going overboard. The characters were interesting and it kept my interest all through the book. The author seemed very knowledgeable of mountain climbing. I actually understood what he was trying to explain.
Overall a great read, but not one I would read over and over again. I think it is because it is not my usual type of book though, ...more

Good, solid audiobook about exactly what the title says - murder on Everest. It's a little redundant in its emphasis on the perils of Everest, especially if you've read Into Thin Air. That said, it's my interest in climbing on Everest that made it more intriguing than the average murder mystery.

This is a story of a group of climbers together again to climb Everest to find the body of Derek Sodoc lost on expedition the previous year. Derek's extremely rich father puts pressure on the climbers that were with his son when he died. Those men are Scott Devlin, Peer, Dr Calvin, Rusty and Tom, there are also three women Crystal,Diana and Tarja the widow. While reading this book it is almost like being on the mountain with the climbers, you learn about high altitude sickness, extreme cold and

Murder on Everest kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was actually on the expedition. I didn’t know anything about climbing before reading the book, but that didn’t matter. The authors do a great job of explaining everything to the point that I felt every ache and pain the characters themselves felt! An amazing read that I am sharing with all my friends!

This was a strange reading experience for me. I never wanted to DNF it, but it seemed like it took me forever to finish it. I think that's because 3/4 of the book is set-up, and that 3/4 also gave you more than enough time to pretty much figure everything out - there was very little narrative tension. The first 3/4 was packed full of character background, and gave a decent feel for the area, and the concept of mountain climbing. However there was a lot of repetition that slowed the book down. Ma

A promising premise that ended up being a disappointing read. Riddled with inaccuracies. Belaboured writing. Lazy and borderline sexist descriptions eg 'Nordic beauty'. I won't be rushing to read any more titles in this series

Didn't finish it. It was too slow moving for too long. Read more like non-fiction than fiction, and even that wasn't attention holding. Read Jon Krakauer instead.

I've always been fascinated with climbing because I am too chicken to do it myself. It's an experience that causes such suffering , it's a wonder anyone would do it.

Holy Cow! I just closed the last page to Murder On Everest and what a ride! First, I must admit that since I'm not a mountain climber I feared that some of the terms and descriptions may be over my head. I shouldn't have worried because Irion and Watkins do a great job of explaining everything in a way that is easy to follow. I had NO IDEA that mountain climbing could be so dangerous and involved! The danger of the climb added to the story, making it a quick page turner and had me biting my nail

Murder on Everest was an interesting read with an ending I was not expecting! I really enjoyed reading about the different aspects of what it takes to participate in such an incredible climb. The book was well written and definitely wasn't your typical who dunit kind of murder mystery. You follow the story of a group of people climbing Mt.Everest to try and find, and bring back the body of one they had lost on their quest the previous year. The dynamics of the group were fun to read and at times

I have a healthy interest in the stories involving Mount Everest. This story seems to mimic the Discovery Channel show "Everest: Beyond the Limit" down to the names of some of the Sherpas. I liked the characters and the description of the Everest environment. The plot was eh, as I felt like I was reading the same things repeatedly over a few chapters.

I really enjoyed this first book in the Summit Murder Mystery Series. The plot and characters are believable and attention-grabbing from the start. Even though I know nothing about mountaineering, I was never bored by any of the technical jargon. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!
