What I loved:

*Brock! I've looked forward to the big, beefy, black, badass teddy bear warrior's story, and he was all the yumminess that I hoped he'd be...and more! I adored him in this! He's fiercely protective, nurturing, honorable, caring, strong yet gentle, tough yet tender, and sexy as all get out.

*Kudos to Lara Adrian for featuring a hot black (although technically Breed, not a man) lead romantic hero and for delivering a sensual, emotional, and seduc

I did not enjoy this book as much as I liked "Shades of Midnight". I had been looking forward to this one, too, so I'm very disappointed.

First I found it difficult to like Jenna. Granted she'd been through a horrible trauma and was still nursing four-year-old wounds, but then maybe the book should have started later when she was a little less freaked. She was downright unlikable for the first half of the book.

Brock is a character I was looking forward to getting to know better. But he seemed odd

I love Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I'd definitely rate them as one of my favorite paranormal series of all time. My only complaint, and this is why it wasn't a 5 star review, is that I expected more out of Jenna. She went up against an ancient for Pete's sake! And yet she bailed on the Order and her bff Alex at the first chance she got.

At the end of Shades of Midnight Jenna had been unconscious and speaking in the ancient's native language. Brock was there with her, and immediately felt

2.5 stars.

First, the good : I loved that the main character was not a breedmate. This was the first time ever that the author strayed from her formula.

Now, the bad : We got no explanation for WHY she was made different. We know the HOW, but we never got clued in as to why things transpired the way that they did.

The story itself was : About the same as the others - entertaining but formulaic. I'm fine with that by now, or I wouldn't still be reading. I know what's to be expected and the formul

7 hours was what it took me to read this book. I still can't believe it though, lol. I guess I really got caught up with it.
It was amazing. Much better than the previous book, although not as good as Tegan's, Rio's and Niko's books, but those are just too though to overcome, lol. But after those 3 this is definitely my fav in the series.

I never thought would end up loving Brock as much as I did, he was a terrific hero. Loved him! And the heroine, Jenna, was even better. She was a thought one, ex-p

Way more of a paranormal fiction story than romance, this couple had no building relationship at all. This book felt like series filler, not a lot of advancement in Dragos vs The Order. I wanted Hunter and Mira to get together (Mira could age super fast or something) but I see Hunter is the hero of the next book with a differe

I love how Adrian sticks to the series 8 books and she has never faltered from the romance and basic storyline like most series authors. This is a good story, just not one of the best I’ve read from Adrian. I loved that Jenna was not one of the breeds, but I wanted to know what exactly Jenna was and how her and Brock was going to make things work out between them since she wasn’t a breed. I guess I like clear closure, than again who knows maybe Adrian will bring Jenna out more in the coming book ...more

Jenna Darrow, in the cold winter months of Alaska, was kidnapped and violated and now she has been rescued and has been taken back to Boston, to the Order's headquarters. Her companion is Brock, who can't seem to leave her side and aids her when she is in pain. Jenna learns that the life around her, the life she knew before is different from anything that she expected. She learns of the truth of vampires, and her brothers recent

I think ill start off with a big WOW! Lara Adrian has got me hooked (not that she didn’t before), but now the story is progressing more and I found putting this book down was a big problem.

In our last book, Brock was Kade's bestie and a pretty funny guy. He was always cracking jokes and had a lot of charm.

Where did all of that go? Brock?

Yeah, so Brock turned into a boring, angsty fuck in this book. Maybe it is because he is falling for Jenna, the best friend of Alex in the last book. Isn't that cute? Best friend girls falling for best friend boys? Think of all of the fun game nights they can have at each other's houses every weekend!

These warriors play seriously hard...

Love how this one followed a slightly different format than the typical Breedmate + Breed from the Order storyline. Maybe they did fall for each other kinda quickly and the ending wrapped itself up rather abruptly, but damn it, I don't care. ☺

Brock was hot and tortured and sweet and Jenna was smart and complicated and a fighter. Oh, and their first love scene together... Yiss, good stuff.

Jenna! I loved Jenna when she is introduced in Shades of Midnight. Now, she has her own book. After surviving the trauma of her family dying and then surviving the Ancient, she’s raised the bar in badassery.

At the end of the last book, I was dying to read this one. Ended up being bored to death. I also wish her "evolution" was better explained but oh well.

Book 8 of the Midnight Breed series, and still going strong!

Brock and Jenna’s story started at the end of the last book, Shades of Midnight, when Jenna was rescued from captivity with the Ancient one. From the first moment he saw her, Brock felt drawn to her, and that intense protective nature is carried over to their story. He barely leaves her side as she is bought to the compound to recover from her ordeal. But it is soon discovered that the Ancient has left her with a mysterious ‘device’ pla

I wish I could say I loved this book. I wanted to love it. I waited with baited breath for it. Perhaps that's why I didn't love it. Too much anticipation.

The build up for Jenna & Brock's story from the previous book was impressive. Brock's immediate response to the traumatized human created a "hmmmm" situation. Further developments in this book regarding what happened to Jenna while she was with the Ancient created so much potential for

There are a lot of good things in this book, and some rather irritating moves Lara pulled out. I loved both Brock and Jenna as characters. I felt for Jenna (being a wife and mother myself, my heart ached for her) I never quite got into Brock's self-loathing. It didn't ring true enough for me because his young charg

Cleverly Written!

Wow, the plot thickens as the goal of ridding Dragos and keeping him from reeking his evil habit upon all the breed, their mates and humanity.

This book was totally different from what I was expecting. It wasn't one of Lara Adrians usual hot romances. No, it was a book necessary to build the series up for more books in the future. There was some erotic romance but not like usual but that was ok for me because the story line was excellent.

I'm not really sure how to rate this. Like the other Breed stories, the writing is wonderful and I love being a part of this world. Lara Adrian is an auto-buy for me and this is a series that I go back to again and again.

This book pickes up right where book 7 ends, so you may want to re-read the end first so you're not lost (I was a little at first). I definitely enjoyed the story and the characters. However this book has no real conclusion. It definitely keeps the series going though. New story
The eighth book in the Midnight Breed series and I enjoyed it. The main characters, Jenna Darrow and Brock, were both good souls. Jenna had a horrific tragedy and her story started in an earlier book. Felt some of the metabolic changes Jenna went through were left unanswered. Wanted to know more about her transformation. Would she be able to do the normal things a breedmate does? The information just wasn't there. The epilogue had me in tears, and I could have done without it. I wanted more info ...more

I don't wanna say much since a lot of my friends haven't read this yet. Brock and Jenna's story was great! I really love their characters, and the development of their relationship. Brock is absolutely smexalicious!

This story picks up right where Shades of Midnight left off. There is lots of action, and the Order's ladies really stepped up in this one! Great continuation of the story, I loved it!!

I found myself more interested in the plot and implications for future books than the romance. I couldn't get into Brock and Jenna. Their scenes were fine and I believed their relationship, I just wasn't feeling it. I am excited to read Hunter's story next though.

Great read. This is a direct sequel to Shades of Midnight where Jenna and Brock's story actually starts. The paranormal storyline continues the fight against Dragos that has been going on for several books now.

As usual, Lara Adrian does a superb job of balancing the action with the romance. The action is intense as the Order struggles to track down the missing Breedmates and destroy both Dragos and the plans he seems to have put in place. The chemistry between Brock and Jenna, who both have enou
I have to say that Taken by Midnight was one of my favorite Breed books in a long time.

The Jenna in Taken by Midnight is no longer the despondent almost suicidal woman she was in the previous book. Having decided to live when the ancient who kidnapped and fed from her made her choose life or death, the Jenna she becomes - as she starts to recover the self she was before tragedy struck and as she starts to change physically from the ancient's machinations - is one of Lara Adrian's better heroine

Well. I wasn't going to write a review but I can't help myself. I was not that into the last book by Lara (Kade's story) as I felt it lacked some guts and angst. But I loved this book. Brock was one heck of a breed male - I was enthralled with his and Jenna's story. How they both did not want to get involved but their chemistry was so evident in this book that they couldn't help themselves. I was reading one of the love scenes in a cafe and I must say after reading 4 pages of buildup my heart wa ...more

Another winner by Ms. how I love this series...Brock and Jenna's story was touching and lovely. Both characters were strong, stubborn, and sexy as hell. Jenna had her demons but so did Brock and together they faced those demons and together they overcame them. Although we still don't know what the Ancient planted in the back of her neck and the implications but I suppose we'll learn more in the next book.
Things picked right up were they left off and they moved at a great pace.
