Having just taken up the ministry of a small church after serving mid-sized churches for a decade I wanted to be sure I understood how small churches are different. Pappas' book is really lovely and thoughtful. He loves small churches and speaks from that love. My only criticism so far is that he speaks as if all small churches exist in small towns and are peopled with folks who have lived in that small town their whole life.

A warm, thoughtful, informed, and lay-accessible book on the essential dynamics of the small congregation. Pappas is an experienced small church pastor, now overseeing/supporting a region filled with small churches for his denomination.
