An survey of contemporary art from the point of view of an Italian, somehow refreshing and it's good to find a book that actually goes beyond the 90s .
Didn't finish it for 2 things:
1)The author claims to write a book in a down-to-earth, non-artspeak language. Maybe it's the translation, it just doesn't feel that way after a few entries. (Yes, entries. It's another ,much dreaded ,compendium type of work...)
2)Look at art and like it? How can that be fitting in a book that, in a patronizing tone, defends the high auction price of Lucio Fontana's work, which is just a paper with a few cuts on it, on the sole ground of originality? And not a single word on provenance or speculation ? That level of naivete doesn't seem charming to me.
