I had some basic idea about accounting, but I don't feel this book taught me something new that I haven't already read by searching the internet. For free.
I wouldn't recommend this book. Just use your favorite search engine and use what the internet can provide. A video can save you the time of reading this book.
I started reading this book when I began teaching a course on how to be an administrative assistant. I wanted to build a curriculum that touched on all aspects of the job, and accounting is one of them. I am an experienced AA with an accounting and finance background. This book is a great introduction to accounting, but not the type of accounting that an AA would encounter on a daily basis. So, while I didn't find it a useful resource in building my curriculum, I do think it's a great way to begin understanding accounting concepts, if that is your goal.
A nice introduction to accounting concept basics for laypersons navigating the complex field of finance. An amazingly fast read with easy to understand examples referencing a start-up bicycle company, quick tips, short quizzes, and a glossary of terms at the end of each chapter. There isn’t much detail or distinction between Cash Basis and Accrual Accounting methods however, I would definitely recommend this to anyone either getting started in learning how to manage their personal finances or taking the first steps in understanding financial statements for small business.
I found this book to be informative. I felt that some of the concepts were over my head, but the author did a good job explaining the different areas of accounting. A good book for anyone who is starting out in business and wants to know the basics in accounting.
