Cute story about a Father wolf and a baby wolf doing some outside chores. Everything that the baby sees, he wants to do too, even though it might not quite work out the way it should. Father wolf is happy to have him help and teach the daily skills that are needed. It is a sweet, repetitive story to share with younger ones who are eager to help out with household chores.

Personal Response:
I read this story to my younger cousin, Gwen, of age 6. She responded to this story by saying that it was funny. She enjoyed the use of pictures on each page to help talk about the tasks. She liked how the son kept helping the father with chores.
Characterization:
A young, gray wolf spent the day helping his father. The young wolf displayed perseverance and determination throughout the day. He possessed a mature mindset for his young age. He began to help his father with only a few tasks, but then realized the joy of helping and tried his best to continue to add tasks to his list to ease the work of his father. He may not have been able to complete each task efficiently, but his determination is what counted in the end. At the end of the story, the young wolf gained more knowledge and skills that his father had taught him.
Setting:
As this is a fictional piece of literature, this children’s story took place in a universe where animals could speak to each other and accomplish human tasks. The wolves in this story completed yard work in an outdoor setting, including a patio, a stone path, and a garden. It was a sunny day and it was simple to complete the yard work without any complications.
Plot:
As the day began, a young wolf set out to help his father with daily yard chores. The young wolf asked to help with various tasks, including mowing the lawn, pulling the weeds, and planting seeds. The father was more than appreciative to receive help from his son. As the day went on, many tasks were completed. The two wolves finished the day with a nap in their hammock.
Recommendations:
My younger cousin would recommend this book to any five year old reader, because the story was funny and the pictures were great. It was a good length story. She rated this book five out of five stars.

This is a story about a young animal who wants to help her mother. My first grade cooperating teacher used this book to teach students the importance of being helpful, but also that it is important to only help others if they ask for your help. Cute story!

This book is adorable.
It is a delightful rhyming easy read to share with young children AND for early readers.
The illustrations are simply beautiful.

This is a very easy read. I see students in my first grade class pick it up and read it. Some even read it more than once. Neat book about helping.
