Andrew C McCarthy is an experienced US Federal Prosecutor who has successfully tried and convicted Islamic terrorists connected with the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. through his work he has become one the foremost authorities on terrorism and Islamic extremists and has written several books on the topic. Knowing that is what attracted me to this book and I have already queued up more of his books. In How the Obama Administration has Politicized Justice he explains that Attorney General Eric Holder in Obama's Justice Department co-opted the power of law enforcement. He explains how Jihadists were the biggest beneficiaries of this strategy by taking advantage of this focus on law enforcement to fight terrorism to wage what the author calls Lawfare, using the western courts to gnaw away at our freedoms in hope of someday supplanting western laws, religions, and social structures with Sharia as their all-encompassing combined system of religion and law. The Obama administration using this approach disclosed national defense secrets and used civilian courts and therefore granting all of the constitutional protections that should not have been applied to terrorist enemy combatants. Fascinating book and the author, being a lawyer, makes many other interesting points that should concern all of us.
