Did not finish because:

-The characters are flat and unrealistic.

- Ridiculous dialog. They just keep talking and talking blah blah, and the story doesn't go anywhere.

I'm wavering between 1.75 and 2 stars. The story was nice but since its elements held the promise of a spectacular tale that fell woefully short of the mark, I felt cheated.

Adam has a gruff, tortured character who has been struggling all his life to rise above the scandal of his birth. He then proceeded to choose a career that further added to his suffering and made him feel more worthless, believing he was undeserving of the love and companionship of a good woman. So the conflict is pretty realistic but then where did all this internal strife disappear off to when he decided to give in to her request? What did he expect her to do after that? At that moment he had no future plans, which was irresponsible and completely uncaring to say the least.

Juliet had a very idealistic character whose naivety despite facing the most reprehensible characters, bordered on abject stupidity. When you dedicate your life to reforming the futures of others, their security as well as yours must be paramount and you especially cannot endanger either for a foolhardy plan. She had no long term plans, which I thought was extremely shortsighted of her. However, her level of compassion makes me wish such people existed.

My biggest question remained unanswered, what happened to Angel's Fall? How did they deal with the other villains in the story? especially since they had strong motivations to make the establishment fail and Juliet pay for her actions. The fact that this remained a halfheartedly resolved mystery speaks itself for quality of the story.

I loved the story- I thought it was original and it was def an interesting read. I liked the hero and the heroine and I enjoyed how lovely the romance played out.... The only thing I didn't love was the wordy prose writing of the author. Everything written was so drawn out and exaggerated it drove me crazy. It's like listening to my sister tell a story- she adds and embellishes for dramatic effect and she does it so much I stop listening and just try to tune in for the important parts... It really makes me sad to 3star this book because I really liked the story idea that much.
I still plan on reading more from this author- maybe her newer books are better (I hope!).

This series has good starts but the story wains in each book. It has some really good character dialogue moments but they are few, the rest is filled with flowery over the top exposition.

I dragged myself to the end, hoping it would redeem itself. The ending has its climax but which is ultimately unsatisfying. For a book that goes on for so long, you still feel the story is missing its end.

Not quite as good as the first one, but interesting to learn what became of Adam and how his activities since "Gather the Stars" has impacted his life. Somehow Juliet doesn't seem to have come alive in this book, not as in-depth a character as Rachel was in the first book.

Adam Slade is a huge man with the demeanour of an overbearing grizzly bear with a sore head! Grumpy, swears a lot, says what he thinks, but underneath it all, this handsome gentle giant has a huge heart and is just waiting to be loved.
Juliet is a beautiful, kind and compassionate young woman. She is charitable to helping others, and by throwing herself into helping others, it means she doesn't have to deal with her own loneliness.
Behind this slow burning passionate and romantic love story, is a dark plot bubbling away in the background. It is a very dark tale of unrequited love, with nasty and vicious characters all around.
Adam is a man haunted by his past, caught in the misery of his legacy. Deep down he is a chivalrous knight, but he is unfortunately in dirty armour instead of shiny, though time will tell.
Prim and proper Juliet the Vicar's daughter, is a wonderful heroine, who has never entertained carnal thoughts until Adam Slade turns up on her doorstep and then proceeds to kiss her, turning her world upside down. Although she is an angel, her past is also full of loneliness and tragedy. Does Juliet have enough love to heal both of them? By pushing people away, does Adam think that Juliet and his family, especially his brother Gavin, won't see how lonely he really is?
As before in Kimberly's previous book, she brings her characters to life, giving them humour and enormous hearts, so that one can easily empathise with them. The conversations between characters is funny and engaging and the warmth between Adam, his brother Gavin and his 'knights of the round table' are heart warming and poignant.
Kimberly captures the cruelty of this era, showing how people treated others and how vicious the world can be.
But in the end, this book leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart, wanting more in this series as you move on to the next one.

He is not pleased to find this preacher’s daughter running a home for former prostitutes. He tries desperately to convince her to close the place and go back to her small hometown. He is outraged to find the place has been vandalized and threatened. He stops a mob from hurting her the day he arrived. A truly enjoyable story of two very strong people trying to get their way. Then disaster strikes.

Update;

Besides their emotions and thoughts being repeated many, many times, this was a fun read.
Juliet has opened up Angel's Fall to rescue ladies in need. The town's people are not too happy and want to get rid of her. Adam is not thrilled about getting involved.
There is a whole lot more too it.




I was just waiting for Barnabas Rutledge to show up again and drive Adam Slade crazy. Only Juliet thinks that Mr. Rutledge is being a sincere person to her.

I'm flipping pages of Adam's war going on emotionally and his visions of Juliet. Just moving on to get back to the real meat of the story.

I feel like most of the reviews for this book are written in an unfavorable light, and that's fine because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I really enjoyed this book. Was it perfect? No. Was the writing a little too flowery and clearly written by a woman writing the most inane and purply prose at times to make readers swoon? Yes. However, I enjoyed how deep Juliet and Adam were; I mean unlocking their psychology like the author did was...just "Wow". It made them feel so real because their deep-seated issues and reasons for what they did were just so honestly human. Two lonely souls who've fought for so long to not be lonely, finally find each other and realize that they no longer have to be alone and scared anymore because they have each other. Sue me but I'm a sucker for that.
And P.S., you know a book is good because you stay up until 5am to finish it and then want to cry because (A) it's over and (B) you didn't get a prologue with lots of babies and overly cute sweetness : )

ANGEL’S FALL just didn’t work for me. I only read 17% before giving up. I found the story to be from old times with very modern connotations, and didn’t care for the long descriptive sentences.
April/2022 I went back to the book for another attempt, made it to 50%. I like the bones of the story, however the writing style just doesn’t work for me.
