This booklet contains practical advice on the subjects of dating and choosing a spouse from the Catholic theological viewpoint. Father Lovasik points out clearly what one's moral obligations are in this area, providing an invaluable aid to youthful readers. Additionally, he demonstrates that Catholic marriage is different from secular marriage and why it is important to choose a partner who is of the Catholic Faith if one would insure his or her personal happiness in marriage. With the rampant dangers to impurity today, with the lax moral standards of a large segment of our society, with divorce at epidemic levels, Clean Love in Courtship will be a welcome source of light and guidance to Catholics serious about their faith.
This is honestly THE best book on courtship/dating/relationships I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Its such a light, easy to understand read that you can just fly through but will want to read over and over again. Everyone should read this before and during a relationship. It gives honest and solid Catholic advice and guidelines to follow that you can actually apply to your life.
This is a book for a young reader, say teenage to early twenties.
The book assumes you are already in courtship and that your biggest challenge was sins against the 6th and 9th commandments. I wish it defined the concept of courtship and guided readers on what to consider before getting into one.
A list of wonderful prayers are provided at the end on maintaining purity, finding a spouse, and discerning ones vocation.
In the words of the author, "The Catholic Church warns you in advance that you will pay a heavy penalty for negligence, haste, and rashness in choosing a partner."
While the book has become slightly dated (the Legion of Deceny might not exist anymore), the book is a complete overview of the Catholic view of courtship before the council flipped it on its head. The only thing it does not include is tips for the initial ask to enter into courtship, but covers every single thing after that. Also includes a bucket load of powerful prayers at the end to plead for the success of your courtship and to desist from sin.
Great book!! I wish I had this when I was a teenager, maybe my life would have been a bit different!
It would be great to see someone like Michael Knowles write a version of this in the terms of the youths today and even promote it on a speaking tour or something!!
