This book was released in 1991 by Wicked Publications and that tells you much about the slant of its content. It is literally a short peek at the hard life in London, especially for women, mostly in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. There are plenty of snippets of interest to those studying social history, but those seeking titillation may find this mildly saucy at best.
I enjoyed some of the extracts in particular of eccentric behaviour within the 87 pages, many with photos and illustrations. However, my overall impression was of an author discarding some worthwhile and serious points that could have been usefully pursued further and falling back on tales about various aspects of sexual relations at the drop of a hat. Puerile and dysfunctional.
