Enemy Rising
In this exciting new chapter book series from New York Times bestselling author Tracey West, a ninja-in-training must use skills he doesn't know he has to defeat a deadly enemy. Hiro had heard stories about Fujita. The evil ninja was said to have mysterious powers. And no ninja who had faced him had lived to talk about it. And now his shadow loomed over Hiro's remote mountain village. Fujita sought an ancient amulet that would bring him one step closer to absolute power over the Kenkoro kingdom. Hiro and the rest of the Hinata family had to find the amulet first. But Hiro still had much to learn, and many ninja skills to master. Hiro is training to be a ninja. His whole family is ninjas – the Hinata Family are the protectors of their mountain village. Hiro loves his training, but he’s especially excited about the day he will learn to tap into the animal spirit inside himself and transform. He can’t wait to see what animal he will become. But when the day comes, sensei offers very little in the way of instruction. “To transform into your animal spirit, close your eyes…Now you must connect to the spirit inside you. You and your animal are one and the same. You have the same bones, the same skin, the same heart. To transform, you must only will yourself to do so.” Hiro watches as his friend Yoshi transform into a rabbit, and his friend Aya transform into a snake, but Hiro stays stubbornly human. The day ends and Hiro still hasn’t transformed. That night, an evil ninja attacks the village, and Hiro, his family, and his two friends must go on a journey to protect two very powerful amulets. But how can Hiro be a ninja when he can’t even transform?
