In this memoir and extended meditation on Jewish identity and anti-Semitic stereotypes written in France in the early 1960s, Albert Memmi paints a portrait of himself as a secular Jew. Shelves: own, memoir

I wouldn't really classify this as a memoir since its focus isn't so much on details of Memmi's life as on the situation of the Jew as other, outsider, minority. Having read much about "the Other" in college classes, I'm surprised Memmi never came up. I found it tedious.
