I laughed so hard when we first read this because whenever the photo of "Boots" came along, Au would excitedly yell, "mon-key!" She eventually got the hang of saying Boots. I like that the photos help the kids "read" along with you.

Dora’s friend Boots is sick today. She would like to cheer him up. Dora decides to take some pictures to cheer him up. Dora first takes pictures of Map and Backpack. Then goes to Star Mountain and takes more pictures. Before she can get to Boot's treehouse; Swiper tries to steal the camera.
Dora stories follow a predictable pattern which children can relate too. First this, then that and then to the conclusion. In this story children learn words thru pictures with the word written under it. Dora enjoys involving the reader with the story. Children enjoy talking back to Dora while reading.
My daughter (4 years old) loves these books where she can help "read" because there are picture prompts. I find them very dull and the "stories" quite...blah, but I read them to her for the joy she has in getting to participate, and this is probably the only way she can do that at this age. I don't recommend this book unless your child is already quite familiar with the Dora characters and can name them.
