Ebenezer Scrooge is a heartless old miser who hates everything, especially Christmas. Then one mysterious Christmas eve, Scrooge is visited by three spirits who take him on a fantastic journey and teach him the true meaning of the season.
Dickens has written the quintessential redemption story here. This story has affected our culture almost from the time of its publishing. It is a part of every Christmas - from the various film versions of the novel to the inclusion of the word Scrooge as an adjective for a miserly bitter person.
The prose is exquisite and paints some of the most evocative word pictures I've ever read. No movie can adequately portray his story and affect the consumer of culture the way Dickens did it in prose.
BOTTOM LINE: A must read for every holiday season.
I'm sad that the image is not available, but at the same time, perhaps it is best. I Love this book with all my heart, it is my favorite book in the world. Thats all I can say about that.
