‘Tis the season to be... fired, dumped, and befuddled about the future? Ben Richmond is not having a holly-jolly Christmas. In fact, life has been a wash since a knee injury ended his dream of a baseball career. He's so desperate that when he spies an ad for nude male models, he jumps at it, hoping he can pull off a grand gesture to win back his boyfriend. The only hitch? Photographer Gavin McNally. He’s demanding, seductive, and wears a pair of tight-fitting black pants like nobody’s business. Ben hasn’t been this attracted to someone in a long time, but is he really ready to call it quits with the ex?
“I want to work with words!” That's been Lenore Black's ambition since she learned how to read. After trying out publishing and public relations, she took up a career as an advertising copy writer. Now, she's happy to add "fiction writer" to the resume.
Lenore lives and works in Brooklyn. She wrote her first romance novel in the fifth grade. She published her first story in 2009. What's next for her? More writing. Hopefully, more publishing. And definitely a lot more daydreaming on the subway!
Although it starts out without any real hope for the main character, this quickly turned into a really fun Christmas story with a little bit of magic and lots of humor.
Ben is pretty hopeless at keeping down a job after losing his chances at playing baseball professionally due to a knee injury. When his boyfriend of two years, Kai, dumps him, all he can think of is how to get him back. He needs money for a big gift and accpets a job as a nude male model. Even when it becomes clear that he's very attracted to Gavin, the photographer, he continues trying to fix things with Kai.
I liked the light humor in the form of the 'unlikely Santa' as well as the twist to what Ben thinks he wants and what he ends up getting. Very nice, this story left me with a smile.
A very sweet and hot short Christmas story. Ben was charmingly clueless and at a loss as to how to win back his ex. His very poor plan to earn some quick cash as a nude male model turns out quite a bit differently than he planned. Lenore Black's writing is so fun and this short story was a great Christmas read. A perfect balance of sweet and smark - highly recommended.
A story about a guy who lost his job and tried to make some money by becoming nude male model for penis enlargement ad. Oh, god, it's just so, so delightful!!!
M/M Romance. And by "romance" possibly I mean "porn." And by "porn" I mean "original slash" which here means "short story with hot sex in it and the suggestion of future love." I think that's everything.
It's almost Christmas and Ben Richmond needs a job so he can buy a present to win back his ex-boyfriend. Too bad the only thing Ben's qualified for is Nude Male Model. Enter Gavin McNally, photographer. Enter instant attraction! And playful, hot sex! And, later, a hint of magical realism. It is Christmas after all.
Four stars. This is a fun, quick read. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer!
A nice short holiday story about a guy who is down on his luck and also trying to win back an old boyfriend. On his search for a job he comes across an ad for nude modeling and answers it.
I love the title of the story. It's pretty funny when you hear it and frankly the double meaning was what got me since I didn't read the blurb.
Very good short m/m holiday romance about a guy who was fired and then dumped by his boyfriend. He hasn't had any luck finding a new job while he pines for his boyfriend... until he answers a modeling ad. *ahem*
I really enjoyed "All's Fair in Love and Advertising" by this same author, but this Christmas story was a disappointment. Fortunately, it was very short.
