Read this for storytime with young preschoolers. The illustrations are beautiful - the dormouse, the field mice, even Scraggly Sam who plans to eat the dormouse, are all adorable. A simple story featuring teamwork and compassion that encouraged me to find out what a dormouse actually is to I could explain it to the kids. Apparently dormice are known for spending long periods of time in hibernation - a condition that allows the dormouse to be captured. Don't worry, the field mice help him escape and Scraggly Sam ends up frustrated!

This is an extremely quick read but manages to wedge several plot twists into a very tiny package. It's also a really cute story, but since it's so short, I can't really say much about it without ruining it for you.

Cute story, wonderfully illustrated. I have a thing for mice and rats. :)
