I find that this book helped me lay out my history of relationships to a 'T' and let me visually see and recognize patterns within myself and the relationships. It helped me understand why I've chosen the type of people that I have, what I like and didn't like about my decisions, and ultimately how it has helped me learn more about myself, my difficulties with intimacy, and how I can create healthier behaviors for myself by understanding my past.

Ok, I didn't actually read this book, but the author does an accompanying lecture/ slide-show about it which I have seen on VHS 10-12 times so far (for work) and discussed it with groups of teens and adults. His style is terribly scholarly and dry, but the advice is spot-on and great material for discussion.
