THE RELUCTANT HEIRESS was an okay read, lacking in the romance department.

I thought this was well written and I've been reading a lot of not so well written books lately.

I didn't like that the heroine's mother remained faithful to a man who didn't love her and likely didn't remember her. This was published in 2007 so DNA testing is a thing, I don't know why they had to make the heroine's mom such a martyr if the author wanted to make the father sympathetic. I personally felt it would have worked just as well if the mom had married when the heroine was 10 or even 20 b

This was one of my favorites in the series. Jillian just seems much more real than all the other characters. I spent most of the book feeling sorry for her though for having her whole life turned upside down by no fault of her own.

Award-winning author Christine Flynn was once told by a creative writing professor that she would save herself a lot of grief if she would limit her love of books to reading rather than attempting to write. Taking his words to heart, she dropped his class and wrote very little until fifteen years later when her husband gave her a Silhouette Romance which he'd received free with the gift-wrap of he ...more
