Miracle's Journey

Rate this book
The powerful sequel to Miracle's Song .

Miracle’s fingers roam through her hair as memories of her brother , Andre, float into her subconscious. His death changed her. It changed everything.

All she wants to do now is try to survive life without him. But memories of her best friend, Kim, blaming Andre for his own death linger in her mind. Her body tenses at the thought.

“I saw him point the gun at the officers.” Kim’s words sink deep inside Miracle’s soul , shattering the love that once existed. Miracle needs to escape . She needs to run away from reality, so she turns to music.

A chill spreads across her skin as the beat booms through her headphones, and the darkness covers her in its embrace. The familiar feeling of falling takes over, and her world changes once again.

But something is wrong. This isn’t like before; everything is different . Can she survive or is it already too late?

Rodney LaMarr grew up in Lancaster, California. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for over 20 years. His military service allowed him to see the world and do things he never thought imaginable. But from his military service, two amazing things happened.
The first was that he met and married the love of his life and had three wonderful kids. The second thing was being re-introduced to reading during long deployments. This newfound love transformed into a love of writing.

When not behind the laptop writing novellas or trying (and failing) at graphic design, he can be found in the gym doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (again, trying and failing).

Rodney LaMarr is the creator of the California Dreaming Series, which include Miracle’s Song, Miracle’s Journey, and Andre’s Story.

I see what you did there, mister LaMarr. Short but highly addictive. This was a solid sequel to the California Dreaming series.

As I said in the review of the first book, I do love the imagery and writing style, especially because of Miracle's condition, which makes her travel back in time and gives us more context about her family.

I'd still like to see how the judgment of what happened to Miracle's brother, and now to Kim's, ultimately unfolded. But despite that, I think the story is developing very well, and the characters are well-built.

It was very painful for me to see Miracle struggling with her condition and the fear of getting lost in it, and there is one revelation in particular that made me jump out of my chair.

So, yes, I do recommend this 100%, and can't wait to see what LaMarr as in store for us.

This was a strong sequel in the California Dreaming series. It had what I enjoyed from Miracle's Song and I think improved on the story. I enjoyed the way Rodney LaMarr wrote this and was glad to keep reading this series.

Rodney LaMarr doesn’t waste time—this sequel is short but so addictive you’ll be flipping pages faster than you can blink. His writing style is a strong suit, especially when dealing with Miracle’s condition. The time travel element isn’t just a cool gimmick; it’s a brilliant way to unravel her family’s mysteries, giving us more context, more emotional depth, and more layers to the narrative.

Still, I find myself aching for answers on the lingering questions from the first book. What really happened to Miracle’s brother? And now Kim’s fate hangs in the balance, which leaves me wondering where this will all lead. I need to know what happens next! But that’s also a sign of how well LaMarr builds suspense and keeps us hooked.

As for Miracle, watching her fight to stay grounded while facing the trauma of her condition is heart-wrenching. There’s a moment in the book that made me literally jump out of my seat, and I won’t spoil it for you, but if you’re reading this, you’ll know exactly what I mean when it hits.

Miracle’s Journey picks up the story post-trial. Miracle and her family are struggling to return to daily life without Dre. This story introduced some new characters as well as provided some backstory. The time-travel aspect of Miracle’s visions was compelling and wrapped up the story well.

I was absolutely riveted while reading this book. It brought up all kinds of emotions as Miracle dealt with her visions, her loss of a best friend, and attacks on her person. Truly a satisfying sequel to Miracle’s Song.

Special thanks to BookSirens for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are honest and my own.

A YA book with young Miracle as it's major character. It's a sports story on Miracle's dreams, visions and time travel journeys ;her relationship with Greg; forgiveness; and on her inquisitiveness in unraveling the mystery behind her brothers death. The book reveals Miracle's experience with sea piracy and plea for Mercy by victims. It raises questions on procreation and whether the evolution of internet and TV helps reduces procreation rate; and whether the girl child should be educated or end in the kitchen. This book exposes the complications in love from the irony of loving and causing pain to the one one loves deliberately; applauding those who caused pain;love triumping over hatred;the difficulties and hardships of marriages and the minor issues that may arise in marriage;the joy and beauty of marriage as well as the physical and mental passion. The book also touches on the prevailing power of truth through the lives of Dre and Kim.
LESSONS LEARNT FROM THE STORY
🔥Love triumphs over hatred just as we see the kids innocent love in the story could not be matched by the hatred of the man who threw a soda can at them.

I am a time traveler, we all are. We are voyagers with incremental linear progression bouncing around between today and yesterday, sometimes there are hints of tomorrow. Mostly not.

History 101 in all its horrific terrible beauty. It’s a story I don’t want to hear and one I can’t forget, because 1992 on 115th street, in the neighborhood where I grew up, my life was forever changed. I don’t want to know this story; I wish I didn’t know it.

Miracle’s Journey by Rodney Lamarr is the second story of an amazing trilogy that everyone should read. In this second Journey we continue to navigate Miracle’s world and brace ourselves for each timeslip as it takes us through glimpses of a history of pain and triumph.

Rodney tell this story with an almost lyrical poetic cadence with A’rese Emokpae’s narration giving breath and life to every word. Her voice resonates with the eloquence that is Miracle.

And though I know I will never again see impossibly beautiful hazel eyes, with thick lashes, there are moments when I hear him, forever seventeen, he calls out to me, “Titi Lily,” and I’m a time traveler.

I’m there with Miracle, in joy and grief.

We finally get a bit more detail about Dre, and what went on in his life that led to his...situation, as Miracle's power manifests. It seems there's more than meets the eye...and I can't wait to see what happens next!
