FRANCES DEVINE is first a Christian, second a Mom, grandmother and great grandmother. After that, the most important thing in her life is books. Like most authors, she can’t remember a time when she didn’t love to read. And right from the beginning, she was crazy about mysteries. When she was in her sixties, she decided it would be fun to write them and the Miss Aggie series was born. She has also written two historical romance series and several novellas. Frances grew up in Texas and still loves her home state, but when she moved to Missouri in 1984, she fell in love with the changing seasons, the trees and hills. A WWII era starlet, now a reclusive senior citizen, takes a room in Victoria’s Cedar Lodge boardinghouse in southern Missouri. Shortly after she arrives, a murder victim is discovered in a secret tunnel under the Pennington mansion Miss Aggie and her nephew are restoring.

In the second book in the Miss Aggie series, the Pennington legacy again provides a focal point for intrigue that span generations. The murder, the starlet’s murky past, and the questionable history of both the Pennington family and a charming elderly import/export dealer all come to play in this fun story.

Victoria, the young Christian amateur sleuth, struggles with her attraction to a mysterious stranger, while trying to keep her senior citizen tenants safe and out of trouble. She seeks guidance from her Heavenly Father in her relationship with local news reporter Benjamin, which is refreshing, and realistic for readers of faith.

The author Frances Devine presents the histories of the seniors with sensitivity. The consequences for their youthful mistakes reach all the way to the present. The characters are developed further in this second book in the series. The mystery is more solid, too.

A simplistic cozy mystery with likeable senior citizens who reside at a boardinghouse run by a their 30-something friend Victoria who constantly makes bad decisions and puts herself and her boarders in danger.

A dead body turns up at Miss Aggie's delapidated old mansion she and her nephew are refurbishing to turn into a bed and breakfast. Fearing it is her long-lost husband whose body was tentatively identified years before, she takes off to stay with relatives and leaves Vickki and her friends to solve the murder mystery.

This is the second book in the Miss Aggie series. The series is about Victoria who inherited her grandparents’ rooming house along with the elderly people who live there. A man’s dead body is found in a secret tunnel at Miss Aggie’s mansion, so Victoria and the group decide they need to find the murderer. These books are funny, Christian, cozy mysteries. They are clean with no sex and no swearing. I really like them.

This was a gentle Christian murder mystery that involved a group of Senior Citizens and their friends. A mysterious house, gems, and more enter into the quick but, totally, enjoyable mystery!
