I enjoyed this book, but I felt the first half needed some support with its transitions. As a read-aloud it was too long and for an individual read for elementary students, the student would need a high amount of interest, I think, to stay with it. It does have amazing informational pages that could be read and incorporated as focus pages. I learned a great deal about the animal, evolution, and historical impacts.
