Book 1 of the Alien Dream Series. A Science Fiction story based on the lyrics of Rene Young's Progressive Rock album of the same title. As the Star ship Hyperion enters the gap between the Orion and Perseus Arms of the Milky Way Galaxy, a catastrophic malfunction of the FTL drive engine occurs. As the engineers evaluate the damage and assess options for the mission, an anomaly is detected. It is a spherical object approximately 20 kilometers in diameter, and at its present course and speed, it will intercept the Hyperion in less than 19 hours. Unable to alter their own course or speed, the crew helplessly awaits the arrival of this massive object of unknown origin and intent.

Really enjoyable slice of hard sci-fi. Good, well rounded characters and an intriguing, suspenseful storyline with some surprises. Highly recommended and can't wait to read the next one :)
