Shelby Morris decided to come to Holiday Bay after receiving a huge inheritance from a woman she'd never met. The Bistro, which consists of a restaurant, bar, and live music platform, was exactly the sort of project Shelby needed to find her footing in the new life she was still trying to fit into. She knows she'll need help, so she enlists the help of new chef and frequent guest to The Inn at Holiday Bay, Amy Hogan, as well as parttime waitress and longtime local Nikki Peyton. Together with the staff and regular customers that seemed to have come with the place, Shelby is certain she'll be able to create something special.
In book 2 in the series, it's Halloween in Holiday Bay and the staff at the Bistro will play host to their first holiday event. Things are right on track until a new witch arrives in town and a mysterious visitor turns up dead, plunging the town into chaos and throwing a wrench into the carefully orchestrated plans Shelby and her staff had worked so hard to put into place.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Fo me, this book bogged down with the Bistro crew analyzing and making guesses without facts. Also, I figured out the plot and the protagonist early in the book. Then, to have had 2 characters fall under the “spell” of the protagonist’s personality to make the plot work was just too much for me.
A predictable story line The most irritating element was the use of the word sharing Why can't people just talk to each other That and why does everyone have to die in a car accident? Enough I may be done with this author
A Halloween tale set in Holiday Bay that was another captivating read for me. Witches, murder, missing persons, theft, and vandalism has set Holiday Bay on it's ear as it's celebrating Halloween. Colt has his hands full and more than one person is a suspect as Shelby and her friends try to help decipher the clues. Many of the clues were well hidden and often turned into red herrings which totally kept me deceived until the dramatic reveal. Ms. Daley has done it again.
Moonlight and Broomsticks is the second book in Kathi Daley’s Bistro at Holiday Bay series. This is a spin-off from Ms. Daley’s Inn at Holiday Bay series, so there are quite a few familiar characters along with new ones. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, the setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The murder mystery in this installment is intriguing and complex, with no shortage of twists, turns, or red herrings. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Shelby Morris recently learned that she had two half-sisters, Sage Wilson and Sierra Danielson, and that the grandmother they didn’t even know existed had passed away, leaving them cash, personal property, and a mansion and grounds worth millions of dollars. The sisters decided Shelby would move to Holiday Bay, Maine, to live in and care for the mansion and grounds. When Shelby Morris and her friend and talented chef, Amy Hogan, discovered a local bar and restaurant, the Bistro at Holiday Bay, was for sale, the two friends decided to go into business together. Shelby wanted to open the roof to patrons, and Lonnie Parker and his crew completed remodeling the building’s roof. Shelby has purchased new furniture and firepit tables, staff members have decorated for Halloween, and everyone is looking forward to showing off the area as they serve appetizers and beverages to those attending the Haunted Bistro Shelby and Amy have committed to hosting. Everything is going smoothly and is on schedule until one of the Bistro’s waitresses goes missing, and a body is found in one of the event’s props. Shelby, Amy, friends, and staff members join forces to locate the waitress and help solve the murder.
Enjoy this book. I read it in less than a day and then I was sad that it was over! Some of the characters are familiar from Kathi Daley's series - the Inn at Holiday Bay. This was an intriguing mystery with some clues and not many!

Kathi is one of my top favorite cozy mystery authors, and this book is a prime example of why. Second in a new series, this book was well-written with wonderful characters, and an engaging plot. I was drawn into this story and kept hooked form start to finish. There are a lot of twists and turns and a mystery that'll keep you guessing. I'm really enjoying this new series, the book was excellent, and I'm looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
I really enjoy this series and can't wait to start the next book!!!!!! Shelby and her employees were getting the Bistro ready for Halloween, their haunted Bistro. When there are strange things happening at the Annual Haunted 3 day Scavenger Hunt. There were teams of 4 members each. Shelby, Georgia, Nikki and Kennedy start their journey in the hunt, there are some damages done to several businesses throughout the hunt. And one of Shelby's employee go missing. As she looks further into the matter, she doesn't believe what she is finding, she has to get Colt involved because it's not good and she can't find all the answers, so she also gets her staff involved and research to find more answers than the questions. It's really bazaar and something you wouldn't think of now a days. I can't say more you have to get the book and watch out for Witches!!!!!!
Bistro at Holiday Bay is a relatively new series and carries into the characters from the Holiday Inn series making for wonderful, well developed stories. This book was included a few new, passing through characters that helped create a perfectly witchy Halloween mystery. The ending is great though the author, as usual, leaves the reader with a few uncertain situations as the story develops.
The mystery was entertaining- it kept me guessing up until the end. The story did get bogged down a little, with a bit too much telling. I liked the small town and the people, though, so I'll be checking out the other books in the series, whenever I need something quick and easy. Especially considering I started with book 2, which I didn't realize at first. Now I need to go back to the beginning, where everyone was introduced.
A very entertaining mystery by one of my favorite authors. The twists in this story made it very exciting and fun to read. I love having some of the characters from other series together in a story. This book has the intrigue of murder and the suspense of the occult. I enjoyed the variety and no lose ends, now I'm on to the next book in the series.
Reading this 2nd Bistrpo book feels like getting back from a long business trip to find your closest friends and family gathered together to welcome you back Everyone of the major characters from the bistro and the Inn are there and everything's right with the world. Well after the scariest murderer yet and a mystery that made me focus on every detail and stray word. Great Cozy, characters and plot
Just like the Inn series the characters in the book feel like family by the end. It is also nice to have our friends from the Inn woven Into the story. The mystery was intriguing & kept me guessing. I am really pleased to have this new series to look forward to.
I love this series and how people from the inn are carried over to the new series. They are still involved in mysteries and solving them and it is cool that they all get together. Too bad Bishop got tangled up in the mess with Enchantra and Hadley but it all works out in the end.
This was the second book in the series and having read both, I don't believe I will continue with the series. It seems that repetition is necessary to keep us informed and that's tiresome. The stories are becoming a bit like Hallmark movies. Same story, different characters. Sorry Kathi, I think you may have lost me.
When you have Halloween As the setting for a mystery how can you go wrong. Mix in a dead body in a coffin, witches, a haunted bistro and the gang from town then you have the menu for a successful cozy mystery. Kathi Daley continues to entertain at a high level. I highly recommend this book and this series to all cozy mystery lovers.
If you are already aquainted with "The Inn on Hoilday Bay" you will have met these folks before, and even if not, you will enjoy getting to know them. Warning, the pacing is a bit disjointed, but not enough to detract from the over all story. looking forward to the next book.
Kathi Daley has written a fun Halloween story, Her characters are credible, and they feel as though they are family. Daley lets the dialogue move the action of the story. There is a murder to be solved, and Daley provides ample opportunities for the reader to join Shelby vicariously to logically determine the identity of the guilty party.
This is the 2nd book in the Bistro series that Shelby has just purchased and invited Amy to be her partner as chef. A waitress doesn't show up or call, and there begins a bewitching mystery. Characters from Holiday Bay are involved, too.
The Bistro people are enjoy their Halloween. One of their scavenger hunt employees doesn’t show. Later they decide something has happened to her. Everything’s a little witchy! Hang on to your broom!!
I enjoyed reading this book in the Holiday Bay series. The Halloween theme and all the “witchey” things that happened leading up to finding the murderer drew me in. I think you’ll like it too.
I absolutely loved it! An excellent book for Halloween! I’m sad about one of the characters. This is a must read series! I can’t wait for the next book!
I enjoyed this book two in this series, some of the characters from holiday bay inn series were brought into this story. I thought it was a good mystery and perfect for Halloween, can't hardly wait for the next book in this series to be released.
Halloween scavenger hunt leads to major concerns about Hadley not being around. Shelby and her friends/employees follow many clues in their search for her. Another enjoyable storyline of friends following clues and caring for one another.
Kinda spooky with a really good mystery. I love the blending of the characters in this series with the ones from the inn at Holiday Bay. I've got to read more!!!!! I still highly recommend this series and anything Ms. Daley writes.
I enjoyed this book. I am having fun being introduced to some of the other characters from Holiday Bay from a persepective that is different from the characters at the inn, but I also like seeing the more familiar characters pop up sometimes. It's unique and fun.
The Bistro at Holiday Bay: Moonlight and Broomsticks
This was an okay read. I think I'd enjoy the stories better if the murder mysteries were a little more real, but since it's a cozy, it can't be too real. I .do like thats it's a clean book
A good Halloween 🎃book. Although it's July, I pictured the setting perfectly. Kathy Daley can put the reader in any mood with her writing skill. I am in Florida and it's 99degrees outside and I swear I felt the Autumn chill described in the book.
The Bistro has Halloween planned but someone has other plans. The characters are real people and I’m enjoying getting to know them. The series is evolving nicely and I enjoy to getting to know the characters and their relationships with others!
