Very good, very interesting, and very informative. You do not need to be Christian nor religious to enjoy this. It treats the Old Testament as literature, and gives one a historical perspective to the stories and authors that one does not get by reading the Old Testament itself. This booklet tells the history of the Hebrews during the few thousand years BC, tells of the several exiles, the prevailing religious thinking of the Hebrew people at the various times, etc.

This booklet also gives a VERY succinct synopsis of the actual writings of the Old Testament. This is actually one of its shortcomings, because the booklet is way too small to cover its material. The synopses sometimes sum up an entire book in a single sentence! This book should be about 10 times its size, should include much more detailed synopses, and should give more background information and more commentary. The shortness of the booklet is why I only gave this 4 stars.

The tiniest print of any Cliff Note book. I use this for reference materials. It's well written and very in-depth.
