His Honor James Pickles was an English barrister and circuit judge and later a newspaper columnist.
Pickles was a barrister from 1949 to 1976; a member of the Brighouse borough council from 1956 to 1962; served as assistant recorder of the Crown Court from 1963 until 1972; then was Recorder of Bradford from 1972 to 1976 when he became a circuit judge.
Wrote two memoirs - 'Straight from the Bench' (1987) and 'Judge for Yourself' (1992), and one novel 'Off the Record' (1993).
