Like the Martha of Jesus' day, so many women are preoccupied with being the perfect hostess, wife, mother, worker that it leaves many of them angry, frenzied, and depressed. In Martha to the Max , Debi Stack uses humor to bring great relief and encouragement to today's Marthas. This entertaining adventure will help readers view and use their abilities in a way that brings a smile to the face of God. Debi gives plenty of practical tips on slowing down and focusing on the 'one thing' Jesus said is needed.
This was a good read. As a Martha to the Max myself, I appreciated getting a point of view from a fellow Martha. Not sure I learned a super amount new, but there was definitely some stuff to think about here. Highly enjoyable.
Pretty good book about overcoming perfectionism and the reasons why. Solid biblical advice. From 2000, so a bit dated, but mostly okay with some worthwhile advice about contentment and giving yourself grace.
Since my name is Martha and my son's name is Max, I had to buy Martha to the Max for myself. It was exactly what I needed to read at the time. I highly recommend it for anyone that tends to have a type A, perfectionist personality. I particularly liked the "PMS activity" that she recommended. It helped me greatly and continues to be a great help today. It is one of the books that I can say made a huge difference in my walk with Christ.
I really liked this book the first time I read it. I want to read it again. But first I need to find it! I helped me understand myself better and put things into proper Biblical perspective more and more. But it is a book that you read once, make some changes. Read again, change some more...so on it goes.
