From USA Today Bestselling Author, P.D. Workman! There's something going on at Drake Chase Gould. The death of intern Lauren Barclay is just the tip of the iceberg. When Lauren's roommate hires Zachary to look into what was, on its surface, a tragic accidental death, Zachary gets more than he bargained for. Not only is there definitely something up at "Chase Gold," but he quickly realizes that one of the principals of the investment banking firm is Gordon Drake, Zachary's ex-wife's current husband. And that is a recipe for disaster. Zachary is running into roadblocks everywhere he turns, and if someone at Drake Chase Gould is responsible for Lauren's untimely death, then he is putting himself right in the murderer's crosshairs. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ms. Workman creates characters that are three dimensional, believable, and all-around exceptional. Her "bad guys" have a tendency to come out of left field and catch you by surprise when you find out who it is. Even though Ms. Workman's stories aren't necessarily "shoot 'em up" action-packed (Zachary doesn't carry a gun) there is always plenty of action going on, plenty of suspense, and a lot of not your run of the mill mysteries to solve. If you haven't picked up one of Ms. Workman's novels I recommend that you remedy that lack as soon as possible. Zachary Goldman, Private Investigator, is flawed with a capital F. Shattered by the tragedies of his own life, he will somehow still manage to pick himself up and dig just a little bit deeper than anyone else to find the vital clues. Maybe being broken makes it easier for others who have faced tragedy to trust him. Walk with Zachary as he solves cases that will stretch his abilities to the limit. Even with his own life in shambles, Zachary Goldman is still the one you want on the case. Investigate this P.I. mystery now!

Another great suspenseful installment of the Zachary Golman Mysteries. I have loved every book so far and look forward to the next. I loved how the story unfolded, each page added to the story, not a dull moment in the book.
Ms Workman has a way of maturing her character in every book. Zachary is a good example at how much he has to struggle to improve himself and get over his past. Great job. Looking forward to th next book. Cheers Lynn 🇨🇦
This is the 7th book in the Zachary Goldman series and I must say that while I like the character of Zachary immensely, I would not want to spend any time in his shoes. Each thrilling installment of this series sheds a little more light on the unfortunate and heartbreaking background that forged such a damaged (albeit remarkable) individual and each story puts him firmly in the path of imminent peril. In this story, Zachary is tasked with investigating the “accidental” death of a young woman whose roommate is suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the fatal drowning. As Zachary delves into the life of this young lady to see if he can uncover any reason someone might have wished her harm, he becomes fixated on the workplace in which the victim spent virtually every waking hour. This company appears to be working its interns to the brink of death (or at least to the brink of total meltdown). As fate would have it, that workplace is none other than the firm run by his ex-wife’s new romantic partner. How’s that for an uncomfortable and awkward situation? This book is an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys a suspenseful “whodunnit” mystery with a contemporary setting and plenty of suspects and colorful characters to grab your attention. Allow me to warn you, however, if you harbor any Edward Snowden-style suspicions about computer security and spyware, this book may be a trigger for you. Despite that (or perhaps because of it), it is a completely captivating, thoroughly entertaining, and eerily plausible story which showcases Zachary’s investigative prowess. His ability to stay on task and be such an effective investigator is all the more extraordinary in light of his ongoing personal struggles with mental health issues that would leave most people struggling to simply get out of bed in the morning. I can’t wait to see what life (or the author) has in store for him next.
The author generously provided me with an advance copy of this book, and I am voluntarily offering my unbiased and honest review.

Her Work Was Everything by P.D. Workman is the 7th book in the Zachary Goldman Mystery Series. Zachary Goldman is a Private Investigator with quite a history of his own. He has a trail of abuse and mental issues that have followed him from childhood into adulthood. Somehow, he has managed to survive and turn his life around, becoming an accomplished photographer and starting a business as a Private Investigator. But his demons can come out at the worst of times and the challenges he faces can be his undoing.
In this book, Zachary is called when a young woman is found dead after falling in her bathtub and drowning. It looks like a tragic accident but her roommate thinks there is more to it than a simple accident. And so Zachary does what he does best. Which leads him into the world of high finance and internship. Lauren, the ill fated young woman, was a top rated intern for Drake Chase Gould, an upcoming investment banking firm in town. Zachary decides to check out the company and their intern program, only to find out that the Drake of Drake Chase Gould is non other than Gordon Drake, his ex wife Brittany's current husband. Talk about fate dealing you a bum hand! But Gordon has always been fair in his dealings with Zachary and he offers to allow Zachary access to interview the employees regarding Lauren and her internship and her subsequent death. It sounds like a great offer. Or does it?

This was another great story to add to this wonderful series. I love following and reading about Zach and his adventures. Wonderful well written plot and story line that is suspenseful throughout and keeps you guessing. Well fleshed out characters that are great to read about and the author has written it so you just keep guessing who. I can't wait to read more from the series. Recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I received an ARC from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. Zachary Goldman is not your normal, every day PI. In fact, he's not your normal everyday person. He has crippling anxiety, ADHA, flashbacks, physical scars, difficulty bonding or the inability to let go of a relationship. In other words, he is a hot mess. As such he has become one of my favorite fictional PIs. Also, he sees things that others either miss or dismiss as unimportant and is very determined to get to the bottom on any case he takes on. Ms. Workman creates characters that are three dimensional, believable, and all-around exceptional. Her "bad guys" have a tendency to come out of left field and catch you by surprise when you find out who it is. If you haven't picked up one of Ms. Workman's novels I recommend that you remedy that lack as soon as possible. You are missing out. Even though Zachary is my favorite of her characters, they all are great and you can't go wrong with any of them.
Ms. Workman has done it again. She has managed to write a fictional book and input very current themes that make you think. Makes you take a hard look at what your beliefs are.
Zachary has a new case? Everything and everyone believes it is an accidental death. On the journey of looking into it, even to alleviate his client's belief, using methods that work with his brain, he finds things that might not add up.
How would you describe your workplace? I had the same feeling as Zachary, but thought no that doesn't happen in this setting. Workman's description of what that is, is not only amazing but scary.
I envy Gerry and what he can do with a computer!!!!!! Just confirms my belief to be a privacy freak. Where did you find all this information Ms. Workman?
This story can be read by itself. You will not be lost even though it is part of a series. I wish I did not have to sleep at night because I always want to finish it. GRRRR.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
This mystery thriller with Zachary Goldman is another hit with me. The characters are wonderfully written. I feel like I connect with old friends each time I read one of these books in this series. This time Zachary is looking to assure a friend of a young woman who fell, that her death was a simple accident. Its his job to make sure it was, however he notices a few things that vary. With the help of Kenzie, And his contacts that help create his world he will get the job done. This is another great read from PD Workman.
A distraught, crying woman asks Zachary to find out what really happened to her roommate. Once he starts digging, Zachary is certain something is amiss at the woman’s workplace. Once I started reading this powerful novel, I didn’t want to put it down! The writing is very skillful, with a tight plot and believable characters. Highly recommended! I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Zachery is a simple guy, and we like his characters in this series. He wants to help others, in this a roommate, saying it was not an accident. He thinks it is until he starts looking in it. First was were the woman worked, was a shock to learn it is owned by the husband of his ex. The woman worked endless hours, was there a reason, and soon he finds himself in cross fires. The plot flows, and good character in Zachery, with a good series.
Once again this author has written another great book in this series. I love Zachary and following him as he tries to do his job as well as he can. Even if it means putting himself in danger. Such a great story.
I love this series. Zachary is such a compelling character. I eagerly await the next book in this series. (And I just discovered there will be a 'prequel' of sorts centered on Kensie!)
