B. J. Oropeza shows why no one can predict the date of Christ's return from historical events, geological disasters, coded numbers, the identity of the antichrist, sources outside the Bible, and on and on.
"Christians can easily get sidetracked into trying to figure out the end times while neglecting personal evangelism and church ministry". ~Author. This book was purchased because it is cited and listed in the bibliography of another book I am reading on eschatology. B.J. Oropeza lovingly and factually points out the inconsistencies of those who focus on the date of Christ's return. It is surprising how inundated the modern church is with these falsehoods and deceptions and how end times prophecy is often used by the enemy to deceive the very ones who should be enjoying the hope of His return. I cannot emphasize enough how insightful this book is. It is written in such a way that the reader does not have to be an expert in eschatology to follow the flow and argument. It is a sharp rebuke to those who establish their view of "last things" through the filter of current events, and will challenge the very foundations of Zionists and dispensationalists alike. The only shortcoming in the book may be that many of the false teachers and failed prophecies used as example are already aged and irrelevant. However this very fact does much to show the paradox of the fleeting things of man as compared to the everlasting nature of God's word. I highly recommend this book and plan to purchase a few copies to give to family members who are being led astray.
