A cute little song book for kids just learning the rhyme. Once you already know the song and the motions, this will be too slow for you. "Eyes and ears..." Stop. Turn the page. "...and mouth and nose." Stop. Turn page. Once kids know the song, they love to see how fast they can sing it, which doesn't lend itself to page-turning. But this is a great early childhood level book for the kids who are still learning where their knees and shoulders are.

Very cute illustrations of animals touching their heads, shoulders, knees, and toes. There is just one verse, repeated once. The music is included at the back of the book, in case there is anyone who doesn't know it. Ages 2-4.

Cute book and really amazing illustrations but it wasn't all that informative and the pictures didn't have much to do with the words. The book seemed a little pointless to me because illustrations didn't really go with the body part being mentioned. Better to just to the song with the kids without the book, in my opinion...

3. Original summary: Animal friends sing along and follow directions using their Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes song. The whimsical characters motor movement paired with song introduces children to rhyme-rtythm.
4. Original review: Author and illustrator developed a fun book activity-song book to introduce children to the sound of rhyme in language. I liked the colorful pictures, whimsical animals and simplicity of songs. This is a great book for young readers and ENL students who can follow visuals to imitate song/movements.
5. In class uses: Sing, “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” with the children . While you sing it touch the corresponding body part. With practice the child will be able to sing it and follow along with you independently. This will encourage large motor skill for the child.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Awards: None
Grade Levels: Pre-K- K
Original Summary: This is a storybook presenting the familiar words of this favorite children’s song. It has colorful, playful, bright images with various animals acting out the song.
Original Review: A cute, engaging book to use with a song most children are familiar with. It could become challenging to use the book once children know the rhyme and song and have to wait for pages to be turned since they usually like to make the song go faster and faster as they go along. For younger readers, it’s a nice book to let them make the association between the song, rhymes and body parts.
Classroom uses: Group Read aloud, independent reading, rhyming, movement.

My children absolutely adore this book. Reading literature is so important to the development of a child's mind, and I cannot think of thing I would rather do then sit down to read to them in the evenings. Imagination and growth are so vital in those so young.

This is a very simple read and is basically just the song. The pictures are adorable and I can see how it would be a nice filler book. Maybe used while kids are washing hands for lunch or standing in line for picture day. Not a book that I would use to activate a lesson in the upper primary grades but definitely in preK.

This book is the head shoulders knees and toes songs, it just has pictures to go along with it. The pictures are very cute. This is a simple book and i think i would use it in Pre-k not much higher because its just the song and very simple.

This books is fun for children because they can stand up and mimic the words that are being sung. They learn where their heads, shoulders, knees, toes, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose are located. Perfect book to use during music and movement time.

This book is a fun way to get younger students acclimated to various body parts. Also, it could be used for a mini lesson on the five senses. "eyes and ears and mouth and nose" these are four of the five, and you're using the fifth when you are going through the motions of the song.

This is a book with illustrations to go with the popular song and poem. The illustrations show different animals pointing to the parts of the body mentioned in the poem. This would be suggested for the youngest of readers, but would be a very beneficial way to link movement, song, and literature.

I thought this book was cute. The pictures with the animals doing the motions made it interesting and I think that kids would love it! The pictures were really cute of all the different animals as well.

This book has constant repetition but it can be use to introduce pre-k about their body parts. Integrating science and literacy at an early age.

Mummy bought me this in Olds--I already knew the song, so I strongly approved. I made everyone sing this to me A LOT i Canada. Mummy and Daddy had to start hiding it.
