The Quite Nice Wolf doesn't fit in with the local wolf pack. He commences training to become a proper wolf - one that's BIG and BAD. Can he help the wolf pack with their master plan?
A great variation on the Big Bad Wolf. This book has delightful, detailed illustrations with lots of little jokes to notice and a great message about being true to yourself rather than trying to fit in, helping each other out and standing up against bullies.
Funny, great illustrations, kick ass sheep and an excellent message about being self confident and not being influenced by others to be something you’re not. Wilfred the Wolf is a great character, kind and helpful and a vegetarian to boot so he really doesn’t fit in with his howling, snarling wolf pack. It’s a story about finding your ‘tribe’ and not being afraid to be different.
A wonderful book that can be used to explore bullying, feeling difference, labelling and inclusion. Lovely illustrations that can be explored with children. Would recommend as a whole class read.
This picture book is absolutely wonderful in the way that it subverts the traditional “Big Bad Wolf” fairy-tales. The illustrations in rich earthy colours, by Laura Wood are beautiful, with so much detail to observe and discuss on every page. I love the contrast between Wilfred in his buttoned-up shirt and bow tie, and the rest of the wolf pack with their bandanas, eye-patches and ripped jeans! In very few words the author, Kitty Black, has conjured an incredibly enjoyable story imbued with the message that is ok to be different and to be true to who you are.
I think this will be a very enjoyable story to share with children aged 5-7, and I am grateful to New Frontier Publishing @NFPublishingUK for sending me a review copy.
Who's Afraid of the Quite Nice Wolf? is a delightful book with a lovable character called Wilfred who doesn't want to be a big bad wolf. He wants to be a quite nice wolf and be friends with the animals that he should be eating. Wilfred learns to stand up for himself and his friends against the bullies of this story The Big Bad Wolf. Kitty Black's comical writing, paired with Laura Wood's illustrations make this book a must read! Oh and I love the present that the sheep give to Wilfred :-).
A clever and funny picture book that challenges the stereotype of the "big bad wolf" and plays on other familiar ideas such as a "wolf in sheep's clothing". Kids will love this book (even if they're not quite sure why) and adults will enjoy reading it too.
I think this book is awesome for Children It teaches children how another child can feel if they are the odd one out by way of the wolf who did not want or rather felt like the odd one out. Read it please it’s awesome
Entertaining twist on goodies and baddies that embraces being yourself and striking out for what you believe in that is joyful to read aloud with expression and energy.
