entertaining, enlightening narration of events on the first and only summit attempt on the holy peak of macchapuchare in nepal, circled by the annapurna range. the nature of expeditions, the convivial team and nepali people, and the problems faced - all impressed me to the point of running them in more detail in imagination. the writing style is as classic and superlative as it comes.
