The sex scenes in this were totally my catnip, one in the carriage and one in the library? nice.

I do like second chance romances, Mara and Jordan were separated 12 years ago because they were too young and time was not on their side. Mara also had neglectful, slightly abusive parents and she was desperate to get out of their thumb which is why she made a hasty marriage. So to me their separation made sense and it made sense to me WHY they were good for each other now, that all this time had pas

After Reading bks. 1&2 of the Inferno Club bk3. is a disappointment. I didn't hate it, but I slightly disliked it. Its seems the author in an attempt to change up the H/H characters of this story has done them and injustice. Jordon Lennox is The Earl of Falconridge and warrior/spy for The Order of St. Michaels. He isn't written as smart and intelligent as the Hero's in book 1&2 he is almost killed by the Promethean Assassin Dresden Bloodwell and one of his men is killed. Falconridge got ...more

This was the first book of Gaelen Foley's I've read. The Kindle edition was on sale at Amazon for a limited time, and since I'm conducting my own survey of what works and what doesn't in Regency Historical Romance, I thought I'd give the book a try.

As a romance, this book falls on the blah side of the scale. The hero and heroine met ten or so years ago, fell madly in love, but were separated. This mostly happens off the page, although we do see their meeting and their goodbye. They had to part b

My Irresistible Earl by Gaelen Foley Book #3 - The Inferno Club
04/11 - HarperCollins Publishers – Mass Market Paperback, 400 pages

Is your first love the lasting one or a forgettable blush….

Jordan Lennox, the Earl of Falconridge knew from the first moment he set his eyes on Mara she was the woman he wanted for the rest of his life. But their first meeting could not be the groundwork for a lasting relationship as he had been inducted into the Inferno Club and had to fulfill his duties as a spy wor

I wanted to like this. I really did. This author has written a ton of books in this series and I love finding a new author with a big catalogue of work to read.

I didn't.

It started off bad when the hero and heroine were named Jordan and Mara. In 1816.

I can handle some slight flexing of historical accuracy in fiction, but I found it hard to connect to characters with such contemporary, out-of-place names.

Then there was this exchange:
"Sorry I'm late."
"No worries."

Again, in 1816. They have to at

I’m not usually one for the “reunited” storyline; that said, this novel drew me in. Jordan and Mara fell in love before he left for duty, but when he doesn’t come back Mara moves on in her life. Years later, Jordan must return and protect her from threats resulting in a close relationship with a prince, and use his growing relationship with her to infiltrate the prince’s close-knit group. When they are thrown together they must confront their shared past and find out who they are now, and what t ...more

Frustration. Frustration...

This book definitely had my blood boiling. The heroine, Mara, had me feeling quite murderous. How infuriating it was when she kept interrupting Falconridge when he was doing something terribly important - like protecting the country! - with her silly little demands and theatrics. Then as if that wasn't bad enough she goes and hands the whole list of the Orders agents to Bloodwell to protect he son, which was justified but she could have just told Jordan when she meets

My least favorite of the series. Great Narration by Marian Hussey. (audible review).

This was my least favorite of the series and not nearly as good as the second book which I thought was amazing. This one not so much. Kind of a struggle to be honest. I liked Jordan a lot. But really, Mara could be annoying at times.

I like the spy part of the book, but I have read much better spy books. I don't want to give too much away in my review. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. I just wish Jo

Although somewhat predictable I couldn't put this book down.
I loved Mara and Jordan's second chance romance. It was poignant, sweet and one great adventure. The spying element was good. I like a little danger in historical romance and the suspense really ratcheted up a notch in the final few chapters. I liked the secondary characters as well, particularly Drake and Emily and I look forward to reading their story next.
The narrator does an excellent job of performing the different characters. The

In reading historicals, I am not usually real big on the perilous adventures of the hero/heroine as such. But can I say I was thoroughly caught up is this rousing, charming tale of intrigue.

The Earl of Falconbridge, Jordan Lennox, is the irresistible earl of the title. And oh yeah, he was certainly all that and more. Jordan is every inch a Regency James Bond, in looks, carriage and countenance. Recruited into the Inferno Club at a very young age, Jordan receives intensive training that would mak

What I did like:
-the heroine's coquettetry. Usually the coquette in romance novels is the mean girl who bullies the heroine, but in this one, Mara's just doing her best to get out of a bad, emotionally (and physically) abusive family situation in the only way a girl back then could: by marrying.
-the hero: he's steady, calm, reliable, and calms her down. (Although, everyone kept saying how flighty and immature she was when she was younger, you never get this sense because Mara is not like that an

Oh my gosh! If only the first two books were this good! This is what I was wanting from this series! I was so anxious to pick the book back up every time I had to put it down!

First, Jordan is a vastly improved hero than the last two. There was some darkness to him, but he tried to balance himself out with thoughts of life and the reason he was fighting for his country. He saw his duty as just that, a duty to uphold and not as some tiresome burden he was forced to do. He

Mara, Lady Pierson hasn't had the most easiliest of lifes, first her parents are the worst fort of people, second her husband was just the same and third she lost the love of her life twelve years ago....or so she thought. Mara knew that some day she would see the love who left her twelve years ago again but she never thought she would see him at the auction she was attending nor did she think that taking one look at him would bring back all the feelings she thought had long ago disappeared.

I only made it to about page 70. And that took me 4 days... I could only read a few pages of the hero's inner dialogue and the numerous descriptions of his super duper secret government Spy Club that he belonged to before I would set the book down in boredom. I don't know how many times it was rehashed how they last meet 12 years earlier. And personally, I didn't understand why the hero had any right to be pissed at the heroine for eventually marrying someone else while he was away (for 12 years ...more

"MY Irresistible Earl" by Galen Foley follows Mara Bryce and Jordan Lennon, the Earl of Falconridge, who has a secret life as a spy. But forever after did not occur at their first meeting--he chose duty over love. Now, years later, they meet again at an art auction. Will he make the same choice? Duty or love? Honestly, I thought "My IrresiDrake and Emily's storystible Earl" was predictable. However, I am looking forward to .

I am a fan of historical romance, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to check this out. Although it is Book 3 in a series, it can be listened to as a standalone. I enjoyed Mara's second chance romance with the man that she never stopped loving and just love when everything works out in the end for a couple. Jordan was a great character and probably my favorite. The mystery and intrigue added interest to the story, along with the element of danger. The story was a bit predictable but still ver ...more

I like a lot of Gaelen Foley's books, but this one fell short of the mark because of the "hero". Jordan is not an ideal suitor for any woman. He is selfish, secretive, and neglectful. He abandoned Mara with her abusive parents when he went off on a secret mission, without proposing marriage to her, without letting her know when he would be back, and he had the nerve to be surprised when she doesn't wait for him.
Over a decade later, he is still keeping his occupation a secret from her. Of course,
