Although Raia Glossman is human, she only remembers one world—the alien one where she was raised by her Tearnat Guardian, Ander Rays. Her love for exploration and new discoveries comes from Ander.
While on a quest to find the perfect birthday gift, she instead finds two very unusual, and powerful, furry friends. Now all she has to do is explain to her Tearnat guardian why they should be allowed to stay despite his ‘no pets’ policy!
Chummy, a Quazin Chumloo, is a rare species with powerful abilities that few know about. Captured by poachers, he is rescued from certain death by the inquisitive and equally talented Pi. Unfortunately, not even Pi has the ability to completely free him.
Pi, a Marica Peekaboo, loves the marketplace. It is a treasure trove of goodies to eat and wonderful shiny objects to steal. With each new arrival, she finds something unique to add to her hidden collection of stolen goods—including Chummy and a strange alien girl named Raia.
Three very different worlds collide, and freedom for an entire species is at stake. Can a friendship forged in a back alley be powerful enough to survive an immense alien universe where danger lurks at every turn?
Behr's
Two One fights for a cause; the other fights for survival...
General Behr De’Mar, leader of the Marastin Dow rebel forces, knows that it is only a matter of time before he is caught and executed. It doesn’t matter to him. The cause he is fighting for is much larger than any one person—or so he thought.
Raia Glossman doesn’t know what to think when she is hired by the strange, purple-skinned aliens. After all, the Marastin Dow are known for their cutthroat, kill anything-that-moves mentality. Why would they need a lone human woman to rescue their General? But credits are credits, and Raia never turns down a chance to earn a tidy sum. Besides, it seems like an easy job for her and her two innovative pets, Chummy and Pi. They’ll get in, rescue the guy, collect their credits, and disappear again. The three of them perfected that little trick years ago. This time however, she is on the run with an army of Marastin Dow warriors on her tail! Not to mention that she is stuck with a tantalizing General, and she discovers she is the new poster-girl for the Marastin Dow Revolution. So much for anonymity!
Behr knows the moment he meets Raia and her two pets that they are special. Can he keep them alive and safe against the massive army threatening to end their hope of a new way of life, or will the history of the Marastin Dow’s savagery doom them all?

I have read about 15 of Smith's multi-verse series and am happy to find the Marastin Dow sequel. It starts with young Raia and how she finds her spacy/magical critters. I could easily have followed the 14 yr old through her adventures, but we jump ahead to adult Raia and her involvement in world wars, hidden planets, creative pets, and romance. Definitely not for kids here. Loads of fun, this storyline could have gone in several directions or just been extended for the younger readers. So looking forward to book 3. Fun!
Nice book, good characters, both sets of pets have interesting lives; however nothing really came together at the end. Most of the story seems to be left hanging, waiting on future characters....
I have read this book in the past and it is as good as I remember it. The action and wonderful furry beings who live cookies and cream increase the pleasure of romance.
I have to say this is one of my favorites from S.E. Smith! I love Pi and Chummy. Just so adorable! I hope we get some more. I can’t wait to see where the revolution goes!
Another awesome adventure. I enjoy every journey into the vastness of space. I always get lost in every SE Smith book. Raia and Behr were awesome I can wait to see the reunion. Loved it.
wasn't sure about the series to begin with, but am enjoying the 2 books so far and can't wait for the next one... love how she weaves a lot of the other series back and forth into each book. A book well worth reading. Most of S.E. Smith's books will keep you going back for more
I have been reading for years the valdier, Curazin, and Sweating series. The Marketing Dow books continue the story, though each book can be read alone. I wait for the next book.
I don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy
The prequel made the novel so much more enjoyable. The two mischievous little balls of fluff brought additional joy to the story and aided the structure of the the story.
AUDIBLE REVIEW Thoroughly enjoyable in audible. Loved these two stories and want the next one in the Marastin world already. LOL Ms Smith is a fantastic story teller, one of the best out there in how she can weave her different worlds around each other but make them feel like one interconnected story. Listened through audible+ but then bought. RAIA’S PETS Such a sweet and emotional read. Laughed and cried reading this short story that introduces Raia and her two amazing pets, before we get her grown up story in Behr’s Rebel. Really great to visit Aaron, Ben, Hanine and Evette and see how they are now able to live a good life. BEHR’S REBEL Pets in Space 6 Such a fun and entertaining read. Ms Smith has once again woven a story seamlessly into her interlinked worlds as to make you feel that you are a part of all that is happening. Oh my goodness, what a great story. Assassins, secret worlds, goddesses and love. This story just played out beautifully and took me along for the ride. Behr was softer than I expected for a Marastin Dow General. There was no harshness in him, even though his childhood and the environment he was raised in should have made him cruel.
