What a great book written by a man who practiced what he preached.
I can't say enough good things about the book and the man!
This was written during the recession of the 80's in the town of Waterloo, IA.
The entire area was depressed because John Deere was laying off people.
Don Polston was trying to grow a church during these tough times and he and his wife, Ruth Ann Polston, persevered during these times and the church thrived.
I think it was because they had a blend of FAITH and a POSITIVE attitude.
The Joy of the Lord was their strength.
They were lights in a dark world.
It was great to be around them when everyone else had given up.
The saying in Waterloo at the time became: Will the last person to leave the area please turn off the lights.
It was that depressing.
So, this book became a great source of encouragement.
I would put it on your list of books that are MUST READ.
