A Fourth Poetry Book

Rate this book
These beautifully illustrated books present the best of what's new in poetry for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Many of the poems were written especially for these volumes, and among the poets included are Roald Dahl, Grace Nichols, Judith Viorst, Jack Prelutsky, and David McCord. Drawings, cartoons and photographs -- mostly in color -- draw attention to every page.

I think this selection of poems would be great for increasing children's reading of poetry for pleasure, because they are really quite fun and most of them do not take a lot of work to analyse them to understand them. There are interesting illustrations to accompany most of the poems, adding to the mood felt whilst reading the poems. There are lots of animal poems.
