Incredible. One of the best books on student ministry. I have really enjoyed reading this book and it has encouraged me. Ross emphasizes a five fold paradigm for youth ministry that goes above and beyond what we normally consider to be normal in youth ministry. Although challenging, pursuing this could greatly benefit students in our ministries.

Much of what Richard Ross says is so encouraging, yet simple to attain. He doesn't present a new program to employ, rather a mindset to pursue. His ideas are not so lofty that only the best and brightest could employ them.

Ross has done an admirable job at putting together a call to Christ-centered youth ministry. I am more impressed with Ross' organizational structure than his development of his stated purpose, but the book is an easy read and worth the time for anyone leading youth ministry in his/her church. Ross insists that effective youth ministry begins with a passionate walk with Christ in the adults who lead the ministry. Engaging parents in discipling their own teenagers is a huge emphasis. Plus, Ross calls churches to integrate the youth ministry into the lfie of the church. This book is really a compilation of all of the things that Ross has been saying for years. But, Ross thinks well.

Awesome book that gets to the heart of building up youth of make a lifelong commitment to Jesus after they graduate from the "youth group". It really deals with youth ministry as a part of the church, not a separate entity, surrounding the youth with mature passionate adults who are in awe of the glory of Christ. I am excited about implementing some of the ideas into our youth ministry.

Once again, Richard has blessed my heart. While there is not a lot in the book that is new, Richard has repackaged what he has taught for two decades into a framework of the supremacy of Christ. This is a welcome respite in a dearth of strategic student ministry books in recent years.

Shift in thought

There needs to be a change in how churches see and embrace teens. Too often they are an afterthought to children's ministry. Dr. Ross leads thought provoking realities and challenges to rethink the current design and effort we have in student ministry.
