Adam Dubois never planned to leave Maine. New England is a comfortable place for vampires, and his cozy home in the Great North Woods reminds him of a simpler time, a time when werewolves and witches were the things of legends and he was only a simple lumberjack. Hiding from his past failures worked for over eighty years, but a life debt has forced him back into the world--and face to face with a woman who challenges him almost as much as she tempts him.
Cindy Shepherd is lonely and Red Rock isn't crawling with available men. When a handsome vampire arrives in cloud of mystery she decides he could sate her sexual frustration. After all, if they're using each other for hot, impersonal sex, there's no danger he'll dig deep enough to learn her secrets.
Their casual flirtation turns deadly serious when Adam discovers that the vampire plaguing Red Rock is using Adam's mistakes as a road map. Together, they'll face the darkness, but they must trust each other with more than their lives to secure a future--even if it means sacrificing themselves to save everything they hold dear.
How do you make a Moira Rogers? Take a former forensic science and nursing student obsessed with paranormal romance and add a computer programmer with a passion for gritty urban fantasy. Toss in a dash of whimsy and a lot of caffeine, and enjoy with a side of chocolate by the light of the full moon.
By day, Bree and Donna are mild-mannered ladies who reside in the Deep South. At night, when their husbands and children are asleep, they combine forces to unleash the product of their fevered imaginations upon the page.
The Moira Rogers team is fantastic! I find myself continually drawn into their worlds and caring about their characters to such an extent that I actually cry and feel for them. And the romance is steamy hot! If you love sexy, engaging stories with strong heros and equally strong heroines plus a HEA, I highly recommend any of their books! (Though I am partial to the Bloodhounds series... C'mon, yall - give me some more books, please!)
A moon-crazed wolf, a witch, and their two boyfriends go to Maine to seek a vampire... No, this isn't a beginning of a joke, but it sure sounds like one, the above-mentioned vampire observed in the second story in this omnibus.
This second installment (the third and fourth book in the series combined) wasn't as good or as strong as the previous two, mostly because the second story reminded me a lot of C. Feehan's universe, but still they were much better than most paranormals adorning the selves out there.
This time, Ms. Rogers added a witch and a vampire lumberjack (don't ask) to the werewolf mix and got interesting (and funny at times) results. The pacing was a little slow at times, but the stories more than compensated for it with characterization, action scenes, drama, and hotness.
