Sparo Rising is a spinoff series from the Techromancy Scrolls. Each book features a standalone story of a different side character from the Techromancy Scrolls that readers wished to hear more about. This second book centers around Geneveive Mason of York, and her rise to Knighthood.
Almost three thousand years after an extinction level event on Earth, mankind seeks to regain its former glory, in a new world where magic and technology collide. The life of Genevieve Mason, a commoner and serf of the Realm of York, in the Lower Ten of Sparo, had been turned upside down when she was young. She was saved at the gates when York fell, by a huge muscular female Squire from the neighboring realm of Wexbury, Verna. This woman had taken a killing axe blow meant for her, and yet stood, saving Gen from an untimely demise.
That set the course for her life, as she aspired to be like Verna and champion the weak, to challenge the stars to change her own destiny and become one of the greatest Knights of York.

"Read" via Audible. A bit light on platypus but the minstrel song at the end made up for it. I quite enjoyed the story of the Wall of York. I rather wish it was a bit longer as I really loved her character. I would have also like to see her point of view in the Westlands story. At least now when I reread the series I know how I can fit this story in with the order of reading in the original series. Can't wait to see who is next.
I am also hoping to see more of the back log of Mr. Schubach stories hit Audible( fingers crossed)

Great Mason

Loved reading about Gen and how she came to be a knight. I really enjoyed the fact that she looked up to Verna and was able to make her proud. After all it isn’t every day that one can change her station. I love the fact that another commoner even one without a spark came to be knighted.

Such fun.

I love how Erik is expanding the universe, giving us these stories of so many of characters who filled out the cast in the Technomancy Scrolls books.
I can't wait to see who is next.

As noted on the previous book, like getting to know the various characters and their back stories but would have liked them to have been part of the original series and would have liked to have had more on that series.

See there is another book due on this series and will keep eye out for it, for now I will look to find the other spin-off series that also came from the original one.
