First of all this book is part fiction and part nonfiction. It’s a choose your own story type book where the reader makes decisions which have them turning to a different page and continuing the story. The book has 40 choices and 21 different endings. It’s fiction because the stories are made up, but it’s nonfiction because it has information relevant to those wanting to become a pro gamer and includes a chapter at the end with advice on becoming a pro gamer.

This is the perfect book for a video game lover like my son. We read it together with my two youngest taking turns choosing a path. Either of my kids could have read it on their own as well. We found it more fun to work together though. It’s designed for ages 8-12. It’s a lot of reading for an 8 year old though. I’d recommend 10+ to read on their own and 8-12 for interest.

I liked that it gave the option of different ways to become a pro gamer from competitions to streaming.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book while looking for guides on career searching... Needless to say, this was not exactly what I was looking for, but it was fun while it lasted! I feel like the author has really done a bit of research about the career; either way, it's a great introduction for kids into what life as a pro gamer is like. (As a side note, I liked how it emphasized hard work and failure. Most paths won't lead you to success, but that's real life, especially as a pro gamer.)

Content: Clean. No curse words or explicit scenes.

If there is one thing this "Chasing Fame and Fortune" spinoff has taught me, it's that I have no desire to be famous.
