This was cute and silly, but a fun way to go through War of the Worlds with a child. I loved the things it changed, and the way it explained everything.

The merpeople of Ocea are going about their days when a strange pink object lands on their planet. The object turns out to be an alien spacecraft carrying... unicorns.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. A fun adventure with plenty of humor and action.

Great brightly-colored artwork that adds to the humor.

At the back is a bit about The War of the Worlds, differences between the original and the retelling, visual questions about how information is communicated through the artwork, and a glossary of terms.

Highly entertaining. A fun read that acts as a nice kid-friendly introduction to The War of the Worlds.

I think children will like the colors, format of the graphic novel, and the fact that there’s mythical creatures fighting in a battle underwater with mermaids and… unicorns? I think these will be a big hit.

I prefer so more character depth and development, as well as more themes and messages. I think this book is more fun and less about these more literary elements.

I haven’t read War of the Worlds, so I can’t judge how well it stands up as an adaption. It was fine, I guess? Some parts were really stupid, like them hiding out in the sewers when the whole world is under water to begin with. Or how magically no one had cracked a unicorn helmet while defending themselves until the very end.

Personally, I'm not fond of this book, If you think you'll like it, read it yourself.
I don't even know why I read this, I've read the original War of the Worlds, I just saw it, and thought "Hm, a War of the Worlds adaptation, I'll give it a chance!"
Anyways, One Star, still would recommend to younger kids, however, If you're maybe like 6 you could enjoy this book a lot

This story is based on a sci-fi story written by H.G. Wells. Invaders from another planet invade the undersea world of the planet Ocea, and its inhabitants must fight for their survival. But first they must discover a weakness in the invaders to defeat them.

A very short, graphic novel adaptation of War of the Worlds. Unicorns from space invade the water world of the merpeople; thus the mermaids must find a way to fight back. Silly, fun, colorful and action-packed.

I know this is a kid's book, but I didn't think it was possible to so completely miss the point of the original novel.
