After having read "Dreams That Glitter" and Kimberly Walsh's Biography, I thought I'd give an "unauthorised" biography about Cheryl (Cole) a try, since I am a fan of Girls Aloud.
So, in this we get a more detailed glimpse into her early life, the auditioning and progress stages of Popstars: The Rivals, a lot covered about her relationship with Ashley Cole and the huge wedding (bearing in mind, one affair had happened by the time this was published, but they had not divorced yet), and finishing off with her being a judge on the X Factor.
To be honest, before I read this or any of the Girls Aloud book, I didn't think Cheryl would be someone I'd resonate with, but after having read them, especially this one, I think she's a very down to earth person, having come from her background which wasn't that glamorous for the beginning. So she has been performing since she was very young, I didn't know that she had trained in proper ballet lessons and even went to London for more of it.
This book had a lot to say about her relationships, and the types of guys she's liked. There was a lot of dramatic irony reading this, knowing what eventually happened (especially her talking about having kids with Ashley, wanting 5 of them - now that it's 2025 and the tragic event of Liam Payne's death and her having only one child as of now...). But not only that, there was a bit about Ulrika saying that (Cheryl) would go solo and have a highly successful career... I mean, that was exactly right, Cheryl was the most successful out of all the Girls.
The parts about her assault - I was left a bit confused, because Cheryl and Nicola said that the woman threw the first punch (seems unlikely), and the club owner said he saw her lashing out and saying racist terms hmmmm.. But I actually do believe that Cheryl didn't use those words they said she did but she wasn't innocent at all.
Anyway, she thrived despite of that, which is good of her (she did community service which she actually seemed to enjoy); and it was good to read that she was very anti-drug; also that she was very close to her mum.
The Girls Aloud parts, I totally agree about how the "Tangled Up" album cover was disappointing. That's probably why I slept on that album, it didn't show any of the girls.
At least they mentioned St Trinian's - even if it was a minuscule piece- which I found absurd that the other books I'd read didn't even mention it. I wanted to know more about it, and how the "banned" was formed, and Cheryl's thoughts on it.
Apart from that, I noticed a few errors - she was born on 30 June, not 20 June as it says. And it mentioned she was 18 when auditioning for Popstars - she was 19, it was filmed after June 2002. This biography did not mention the Christmas album (Chemistry) at all - why not, if they mentioned the Christmas number one(s).
I've got another Cheryl biography and autobiography to read, hopefully they'll be a bit more impressive.

I enjoy reading a biography or autobiography every so often, and being a fan of Cheryl Cole as well as Girls Aloud, I got bought this a present for Christmas one year and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It shows how a normal girl can go from living in a small estate in Newcastle to an arena-selling superstar.
Very good book, love reading it, I would consider reading it again sometime.

Gives a detailed account on an outside perspective of Cheryl's life, very interesting!
Im a completely obsessive Cheryl soldier anyway so Ive read this time after time and still find it intriguing and enlightening!

When I was a big fan of Cheryl in 2009 this was a good insight, however flicking through it now, it looks very boring- then again to someone who now dislikes Cheryl, this is probably normal.

This book was the biography of cheryl coles life, it was very intresting to see how she changed from being bought up and now living her dream.

August 1, 2011Pretty good simple biography of an amazingly beautiful and talented young woman from England. I enjoyed it but I like biographies with a bit more detail to them.
