Boston Brotherhood #3
Loving the Bratva
How did I fall in love with a man who was sent to kill me? The last thing I expected when I walked into my shift was to be ambushed by a man that looks like he's killed more people than I want to know about. He has stubbles across his square jawline. His eyes are dark, cold and empty. Like there's no more softness left in him. Pure evil stares back at me. I've seen that sort of emptiness before. He has one demand of me; never come back. I've never been good at doing what I'm told. So here I am, poking a monster.

I was given a copy of this early by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I liked Carmen and Xavier’s characters. I feel that they were well written. This was a shorter book than I normally read but I enjoyed it. There was some spice in there too (;
With being a shorter book you get less background information and I wanted to know more about her strained relationship with her brother
Overall it was a good book and a quick read. I enjoyed it.

Let me start by saying, usually mafia romances are hit or miss for me. Either too dark, or not dark enough. This fell right where I love it. Not so dark the main guy can't come back from his actions(imo) but also not too light where it doesn't even feel like a mafia romance. Let me just say Xavier may be one of my new top 10 book boyfriends lol. Carmen is gonna have to learn to share! I loved everything about this book. 4⭐

Xavier is a hired killer and his target is Carmen. However, there is something about Carmen that draws him in. That keeps him coming back for more and wants to protect her.
Carmen wants to escape Detroit. She feels trapped there, but doesn’t really have a way out. I love that she does what she wants, despite what her brother wants or thinks, and really even her sister. Though, she does value her sisters opinion much more. She is also full of sass and is a strong woman. Xavier is an alpha male, he is strong and confident. There is also a protective and sweeter side to him that comes out the more time he spends with Carmen.
These characters have a ton of chemistry and I loved their relationship with each other. They really balance each other out and bring out different sides to each other.
If you’re looking for a dark, steamy, fast paced read this is one to read.

Short and Sinfully Sweet
This was my first introduction into "Mafia Romance," and i'm glad it was! Lately longer books have been a struggle to read, so a short story like this was exactly what I needed to get me out of a reading slump.
The characters, Carmen and Xavier, were charming and made me want to keep reading to find out where their stories would end up. Filled with an alluring plot, well placed spicy scenes, and a love story that has me hoping for a sequel, this book is perfect for anybody looking to dabble in the world of Mafia!

*Honest Review in Exchange of an ARC*
K.D Clark wrote a fast paced, Insta love, low angst mafia romance that I didn’t stop reading until I got to the words “The End”.
Carmen and Xavier’s chemistry flew off the pages. Xavier’s willingness to sacrifice himself for the life of a stranger is exactly what I look for in a Russian mafia member. Carmen’s quick thinking and assertive heroine personality meshes well with the world that she is used to.
I love that this was quick read and right to the point with their relationship.

There is so much excitement packed into this quick read! Strippers, gangsters, Russian mobsters, sisters. Carmen works at a strip club owned by her gang leader brother. Xavier is a Russian mobster who went to bring back one of his fellow mobsters. His Boss wasn't happy to find out Xavier left Carmen as a witness. So he was sent back to kill her. But, much to the surprise of most people, including himself, Xavier has a big heart in that big muscled chest of his. I highly recommend this and all of K.D. Clark's books.

I really enjoyed the mafia or rather bratva romance. I am always interested in mafia romances and this wone held my attention the whole read. I liked both Xavier and Carmen. Carmen was tough and smart and Xavier was the Bratva hitman. It did get a little violent near the end, but that always makes the story more exciting and emotional for me. This story wasn't as exciting as some of the other stories in this series so that's why my rating is a 4 stars instead of 5. I hope this author writes more stories similar to this. I received a review copy of this story from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

And again I am absolutely blown away with how much I adored K.D.'s newest book! I got an eArc from her & let me tell y'all how much I am now in love with Xavier and Carmen!
This book is super fast paced, with lots going on and so much happening all at once! That being said it was refreshing to have another book where I was not going to put it down until I got right to the end of it, because I so desperately needed to know what happened at the end. Sometimes it's hit or miss with Bratva books, but I can for certain say this HIT THE SPOT!
So much chemistry between the two characters, the spice levels are *chef's kiss* off the charts and the relationship between Carmen and Xavier that we get to see grow just made me fall helplessly in love with them. Not to be dramatic, but I'd probably die for them if provided the chance!
If you're a fan of mafia, fast-paced, alpha vibes books, Loving the Bratva is 100% for you!

I received an early copy of this via the author.
I really liked this quick steamy read. I like Carmen and Xavier. Their chemistry from the first chapter was clear. I loved the Beauty and Beast dynamic of the story. I think Alek and Ruthless both win the roles of Gaston. I’m excited to pick up more from this author and will definitely get a physical copy of this to have on my shelves!

This was a quick and steamy read. I really love Carmen and Xavier. This was fast paced and packed full of all the things!! I would love to have a full length novel about these two because they are fire. If you love a good Mafia romance then this will be your jam. This author grabbed my attention from the beginning and didn’t let go until the end and it went by so quick. Great book.

I need more of Carmen and Xavier!!!
Carmen is freaking awesome!! She doesn't just do whatever she is told, she does whatever the hell she wants. Xavier is a total alpha, but has a softer side he only shows to Carmen.
Xavier is hired to kill Carmen, but he can't go through with it. The chemistry between these 2 is crazy hot!!! And the way they are with each other is just perfect. I loved this book and the first 2 in the series. I CANT wait for more in this world!!!

Wow! I finished this book in a day! I loved the characters. They very very well written. I couldn’t put this book down I just had to know what happened next. I’ll be trying to wait patiently for the next one in the series.
Xavier and Carmen are absolutely perfect for each other I do feel like there’s so much that was left out though. I want to know why her brother is the way he is and if he cares that she’s gone or angry ect. Her twin sister I loved until the very end when she wants to be gone because Carmen chooses to be with Xavier because she thinks it’s just like their mother so she’s not willing to give him a chance and stand by her sister. My favorite part about Carmen is she made her have thick thighs! Usually books I read the girls are so skinny so I was very excited about this. I really enjoyed this book and I’ll definitely be looking into more of her books to read.

Ok, to be fair this is the first book I’ve read by this author. I didn’t realize it was a novella, but here’s hoping the next book is about Xavier and Carmen because it has so much potential. I was disappointed when it ended.

I thought this book was a great quick read that tied up in a nice little love story! Glad there seemed to be a happily ever after and that Xavier knew what he wanted with Carmen and went after it!

I finished this book and then stared at my kindle. I’m in shock! I can not believe it’s over! I do hope we see more of Carmen and Xavier in an anthology or maybe just a bonus chapter in the future.
Ok now that I am coming to terms with finishing the book let’s get into it.
Mafia romance with a twist! He was sent to kill her but falls in love instead! I have never read anything like this and it was so interesting to me. The chemistry and spice between these two is 🥵🌶🥵🌶🥵🌶 and I need to find my Xavier stat! It was a quick read but those are the best. You get a great story and only have to put off responsibilities for a few hours.
Ya laundry baskets I see you.
All jokes aside read this book and the other 2 in the series you will not be disappointed! Oh and be prepared to need to run out to your closest Omelet/Waffle House.
Stash this on the MUST read shelf and get to it!

Loving the Bratva was a short and spicy read. For as quick as this book was, it packed a punch.
Carmen is a stripper who works at her brother's strip club only to one day save enough money to move out of Detriot. One night at the strip club, she is giving a private dance, and this big mysterious man takes the guy. He gives her two grand and tells her that he never wants her to return to here again.
"Even with those dark, soulless eyes, he's still a ridiculously gorgeous man."
The mysterious big man is Xavier; he is a Russian hitman who works for the mob. Xavier's boss discovers that Carmen is alive because she is a witness, and they never leave any witnesses. He tells Xavier to go back and handle the situation. The only problem is Xavier is attracted to Carmen and does not want to kill her, so every night she returns to the club, he gets a private dance and gives her money to leave the club and never come back.
"There's not one ounce of fat on this man. He's sculpted from marble."
Carmen becomes concerned and wonders why this mysterious guy gives her a lot of cash and wants her to stop working at the club. Xavier and Carmen start to go out to dinner and spend more time together, and they begin to date. Xavier worries that his boss will find out that he has fallen in love with Carmen instead of killing her.
"I feel safe with you. For the first time in my life, I'm not completely on my own. When I'm with you, it feels right, like this is exactly where I'm supposed to be."
I enjoyed this book; it was fast-paced, and I loved the endings for Carmen and Xavier. I'm excited to read more from this author in the future! I recommend this book to anyone that likes short mafia romances.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book through the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
For a quick, mafia romance read, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Afraid that as the third book in the series, I would be lost to the storyline, but that was not the case. I felt like I would know more about the Bravta if I had read the first two but I still got the gist of things.
I liked that Camren didn’t base her happiness on a man. She worked her ass off to try to make a better life for her and her sister after her brother took over the Detroit mafia and left them to fend for themselves. I also liked how Xavier risked everything to be there for her and took her away because she was having a rough night and wanted to see her smile. He risked his own life to save hers and I quite enjoy a trope like that. The writing was great and I couldn’t put it down. For a short read, I would recommend it.
With all of that said, I did not like the Insta-love this story had. Yes, it took a little bit for them to admit their feelings but yet, before Xavier even touched her he knew that he wouldn’t be able to do what he was sent to do because she was different. I get instant attraction I do, but I wish there was more burn in the story. More lead up to them finally admitting their feelings. And then her faking a pregnancy was a little off putting. Yes it was to save his life but that’s a tough game to play. It did resolve itself out in the end but the thought was still there.
Overall, good story. I will definitely be reading the first two in the series and investing in more of Clark’s books!

This is the Story of Carmen and Xavier. Carmen is a stripper down on her luck who works for her brother Ruthless the top guy in the Motown gang and who doesn't care about his sisters at all. Xavier is from Boston and the enforcer for the Brotherhood Bravta. He was supposed to wrap up loose ends and kill Carmen for witnessing something but could not do it. This is a short but exciting read. You fall in love with Xavier right away and want him and Carmen to get there HEA. The characters are really developed well and make you want them to have a better life. This book is a wonderful quick read that anyone who loves Mafia books will swoon for.
I received this book as an ARC for my Honest review.

Carmen works at a strip club when she witnesses something she shouldn't have. Xavier left her alive, but has been sent back to fix that. The problem is you can't help who you fall in love with and the choices you'll have to make to save that person.
I loved Xavier's character. He was the epitome of a mafia hitman, but with Carmen he's also sweet and caring. I didn't like Carmen's character as well. The way she handled things and kept putting herself in danger didn't make sense and she didn't have much of an arc.
Overall the book was decent, but the steam could've been better and Carmen could've been written a little better.

I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I wasn’t expecting it to be a novella. It was a nice quick read with an interesting plot. I liked both main characters. I gave this read only 4 stars because there were backstories that I really wish we had been given. Like the dynamic between Carmen and her brother. I also feel like it ended rather abruptly. Aside from those things, it was a fun read!
October 22, 2021
This was a very fast but cute read. Carmen, the female main character, is strong, independent and caring. Xavier, the male main character, is quiet and thoughtful. The story begins with Xavier having been tasked with heading back to Detroit to tie up a loose end: Carmen. But there is something about her that entrances Xavier and he ends up visiting her at her strip club to spend more time with her.
This was my first read from K.D. Clark and I will definitely check out more of her books!
