The Eight Kings

Rate this book
The Eight Kings is a d20 Kalibruhn adventure and is Part 4 of the Maze Of Zayene series. This module concludes the epic series. It is an adventure for 4-6 characters of levels 9-12. The Eight Kings have fooled the people of Ersille. Not only did King Ovar rule, he ruled eight times over (give or take a court wizard), created anew each day by the Wizard Zayene. He was a complacent king, but set upon evil ways, for his (or was it their?) minds were controlled. You see, the real King Ovar was taken prisoner by Zayene some time ago. And now, instead of wanting Ovar dead, the good people of the Kingdom want the old codger saved! What's a regent to do? This adventure fully describes a wizard's dimension wherein the assassins turned saviors must adventure to rescue good King Ovar!

As the penultimate module of the series, this module has multiple encounters that can result in death by decision, without save. There are many novel encounters your party will have never met before and will be forced to make decisions. The safest decision the party can make is to not engage any of the many tempting encounters and objects.

It does seem the party should have learned through the first three iterations to wage extreme caution in this final offering. I would love to hear about someone trying to make it through the ten stages, but I cannot imagine anyone even trying. I think they would quit after 1-2 attempts. I cannot imagine a person continuing with the ten steps.
