The second book in Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl "series is a heartwarming story of a little girl's selfless act of kindness.
Tim McGraw and songwriter Tom Douglas once again join forces to write another book about the precocious Katie and her dad. Katie has many talents, but she wonders which one will win her school's talent show. With the help of Dad and her faithful dog Palio, and after several amusing mishaps, Katie finally chooses one talent that includes Palio. But at the talent show, she decides to drop out of the contest to help her friend, showing kindness is the best talent of all. Katie's proud dad reassures her that she did the best thing and that while he loves many things about her, he loves her heart most of all.

When I was asked to review a book for Thomas Nelson, imagine my surprise when it was a children’s book written by Tim McGraw. I know him from his music and from his movies (Friday Night Lights especially), but I had no idea that Tim McGraw wrote books. In fact, this book, Love Your Heart, is the second book he’s written in this series. His first release was My Little Girl, taken from his song by the same title. Actually the song was written by Tom Douglas, who writes these books with Tim.
It’s been a few years since I picked up a children’s book, but after reading this one, I can’t wait to snuggle with the little girl in my life when she’s about six and use this book to teach her that “you are beautiful from the outside in.”
These stories center around Katie, her dog Palio and her cowboy-hat-wearing daddy. In Love Your Heart, Katie has the opportunity to be in a talent show. Her dilemma arises when Palio doesn’t seem quite talented enough to perform with her as she desires. Of all the talents she has, Katie just can’t decide which one would be best for the show.
Her daddy, the best kind, that loves everything his little girl does, encourages her to seek God’s guidance and practice, all the while letting her know that whatever she does, her parents will be proud.
The night of the show brings out Katie’s greatest talent…her kindness…her heart.
Everyone is the winner in this sweet story.
The illustrations by Abigail Marble are absolutely adorable and bring Katie to life. If anyone could capture a child’s constant motion, Abigail certainly has. From the lace on her pants, to the poka dots on her boots…Abigail brings Katie to life in the pages of this book.
FYI…I just read Love Your Heart to the 18 month old little girl in my life….she loved it! What better endorsement do you need?

Love Your Heart is a wonderful written book. I really enjoyed reading it to my children. My youngest sure enjoyed all the wonderful pictures in the book. The illustrator Abigail Marble did a fantastic job in capturing Katie's happiness and excitement threw the art work on every page.
You can feel the happiness of katie and the love and caring she has in her heart. For her to give up her own desire to win to help Sophie out to achieve her goals is simply precious.
This is the type of book I love to read to my children and to have my children read. I recommend this book to any one who has children or takes care of them. This is a wonderful book that teaches children that it's a good thing to help out your friends and that instead of a material prize, they will win the biggest prize of all the kindness of their heart.

Katie is going to be in a school talent show, but which talent should she choose? As she works to discover which one she is going to perform, Katie meets with differing results. She looks to her daddy for help. Tim Magraw and Tom Douglas bring us the second in a series of father-daughter books, this one about a little girl trying to discover her true talent. What she does at the talent show truly shows who she is. While worried that her daddy will be disappointed, she finds she need not worry about that. Katie may be a little girl, but her story teaches some powerful lessons.
There aren't many pages in this book, but the story is alive and applicable to people of all ages. In these pages we read about perseverance, friendship, and unselfishness. This is a great gift-giving book and will make many bedtimes more special as fathers read to and with their daughters. It is also a good book for young readers. Faith Hill writes a wonderful Forward, and Abigail Marble provides great illustrations. I found the story delightful and will be collecting the entire series (as I hope they write more) to have on hand when our grandchildren come to visit.

"Love Your Heart" by Tim McGraw and illustrated by Abigail Marble, is a very sweet story about a young girl that is going to be in her school's talent show. Katie can not decide what talent she should perform for her school. In the story Katie does decide on a talent after much debate and just when she is to perform, she decides to do a much better deed. This story is so heartwarming and really teaches children life lessons about relationships between parents and their children, and also friendships. It really is a great example of how a parent loves and how a child can display teachings from their parents of being kind, and selfless. Katie, truly learns the meaning of what it is to be a generous person. I think this book is good for the classroom because it teaches good lessons for children and also it shows them the extent of a parents love. A child can see that no matter what the child is good at or not good at a parent loves them all the same. I think this book would be good for ages seven through even eleven years of age. All in all good book.

"But most of all, I love your heart." is Daddy's response to Katie's selfless act of helping her friend at the school talent show.
This is the second book by Tim McGraw about Katie, her Dad, and her dog named Palio. The illustrations are sweet and the story is tender with a Father's love and a young girl's desire to make her Daddy proud. I like this book even better than the first one because of it's simple, yet important message. I appreciate the encouragement that this story offers young girls and the picture of the un-conditional love of a father. Most importantly I like the way this story promotes being kind to friends even at the cost of personal sacrifice.
Love Your Heart is a wonderful book for any little girl ages 4 to 8.

Not only does Tim McGraw write beautiful Country love songs, but now he also writes a childrens' books. With the same fashion as his music, it was beautifully depicted. I love how he used his own family to create the book. The moral came to life easier using real people in a fictional setting. About the moral of the story, I absolutely loved it! He used his childs' dilemna as a story, to show and moralize how children can be the most thoughtful beings on earth. He did a great job on the book, and I would gladly read it to any child I know.

Very cute children's book. I bought one for my three nieces ages 5, 7 and 8. It's about who you are as a person that matters. I also like the relationship portrayed between the father and daughter. It is a good example for children to see.

It was a cute daddy/daughter read for the great illustrations and the story of helping others. Actual writing seemed a little bland but other aspects made up for it.
