My kids really liked this book. Cat has six kittens and she tells them, ""The time will come when you have to fend for yourselves."" She tells them that on a Sunday. Then on each day of the week, a different kitten ventures out and Cat has to impart her wisdom. "Don't go across the... ROAD!" "Don't go too far on that... BRANCH!" On Saturday they tell the littlest kitten to go out and she wants to stay with her Mom. Then Sunday comes and the Mom says the time hasn't come yet.
Overall, a cute story about a Mother trying to teach her kittens to be independent. But they don't need to be grown up yet. Pictures are wonderful and the story is fun and simple for younger kids. Probably preschool, not toddler, since there isn't rhymes. But if your toddler has a good attention span, it might be good.
