James Johnson Morse was orphaned at an early age, endured extremely cruel conditions during his youth and was virtually uneducated. During his first seance, his first trance experience, he reportedly experienced warmth and an irresistible desire to stand. Incoherent words and shouting moved through him. He sat for trance and developed his mediumship for 2 years before delivering in-depth trance lectures on many subjects, starting in 1870. His mediumship and public relations work helped spread Spiritualism. The lectures are an amazing example of the intelligence of the spirit world speaking through an uneducated person for the benefit of mankind.

Provides genuine philosophic evidence for the existence of spirit through Morse's trance mediumship. Nonetheless focusses on the channeling of the deceased, though tendentially excluding the communication with higher beings. In fact pointing to the general misconceptions of magic in one chapter, regardless it self-opinionatedly disregards its approach.
