Definite favorite with my twin 3 yr old's who, for over a year now, have been all about trains. With Christmas, sparkley accents on the pages, and a whole story about Santa and a little blue engine, how could this not be loved by my toddlers? The story is pretty solid too with a lesson in determination as well. My 5 yr old loves to read this to his younger brothers and it's probably somewhere between a level 1 and level 2 reading book. A good choice all around.

Another adaptation of the little engine that could - this time with ill reindeers, Timmy's present, and the little blue engine saving Christmas.

In another remix of the I think I can mantra the little engine saves the day at Christmas.
Same story in a different manner.

I get that Santa’s body size is part of the legend, but honestly, that reference to him eating too much to get down the chimney annoyed me.

This book is about Santa Claus and his reindeer. It is time for them to go off and deliver all the toys to the children before Christmas Day but one of the reindeer kept sneezing. By the time they thought they finished delivering all the toys, all the reindeer were sick. Since it wasn't smart to have them fly in the cold snow to get back home, Santa had them land on the ground to rest for awhile. They landed at a train station. When Santa got out of his sleigh he realized that there was one toy left. He was heart broken, this meant one little boy wouldn't get his gift from Santa in the morning. He had to find a way to deliver it, but all his reindeer were sick. Luckily, they had landed at the train station. After a few more experienced engines had missing or broken parts, one little blue engine said she thinks she could make the journey for Santa. Will the little engine be able to get Santa there in time?

This Christmas children's book is a very cute story. It has a good plot line. The illustrations are very colorful. There are no sharp lines, but the use of diagonal lines to represent movements is still apparent. I like that there is snow flurries (dots) on each page, it helps the reader capture how cold it is, which the author talks about in the text. It also uses quite a bit of repetition with certain phrases the engine says. In example, the engine always says "I think I can, I think I can." Overall, I think this is a great story to share with children.

If you are a fan of the Little Engine that Could, you will enjoy this Christmas version. Santa's reindeer all catch a cold just as he is finishing delivering all of the gifts. But then he finds one more. How will he get Timmy's present to him? The Little Engine that Could thinks he can help Santa...and of course, he does.

This story tells about Santa and his reindeer trying to deliver toys when his reindeer get sick. He is in a train yard and asks help from the trains...all of them have excuses why they can't help Santa. And then a small engine pipes up and says he could help...I think I can, I think I can. The Little Engine that Could helped Santa and saved Christmas.
