A visual introduction to deserts for children. Presents landscapes of the world's driest and hottest places, tells about the strange plants and animals surviving for years without rain, and shows how people live in the desert.
We used this book while we studied about ancient Egypt to help us understand what a desert is. This book doesn't specifically deal with Egypt though; it talks about deserts. Several kinds of them.
This was a good, basic introduction to deserts. Not overwhelming or too in-depth. Just right for the first grade. Any older though and you'd want to add more to it. The illustrations were nice. I may use this again with the younger kids next time around.
