By now I've been in about one hundred countries and for visiting some of them I purchased travel guides. So I have a relatively extensive collection of these books. However, The Rough Guide to Taiwan is one of the best (competing only with The Rough Guide to Jordan). This is the ultimate travel guide. It has everything. It's just perfect.

Can only speak to the small portion of this book that is about Taipei, but that part was very well-written and thorough as most Rough Guides tend to be. The history and context provided on the city and various famous sites made this book worth its cost. I wish that the section on Taipei had been a little bigger, given that it is such a big city.

Very good and detailed guide books who gave me many ideas on my upcoming trip to Taiwan.
Placenames are given in English and Chinese, which might come very helpful when travelling in the countryside where English is not so common.
Will review the book more after my return.
