This particular edition, a tan volume with a photograph of a quartered pie, each quarter a different type, is fantastic. The recipes are consistently reliable and are not fussy.

Although this has been out of print for years, it is well worth seeking out at Goodwill, library sales, and the like.
I find the basic nature of the recipes very easy to adapt to my needs (gluten-free and vegan), and the index is excellent.
