Better Homes and Gardens focuses on interests regarding homes, cooking, gardening, crafts, healthy living, decorating, and entertaining. The magazine is published 12 times per year by the Meredith Corporation. It was founded in 1922 by Edwin Meredith, who had previously been the United States Secretary of Agriculture under Woodrow Wilson.

This particular edition, a tan volume with a photograph of a quartered pie, each quarter a different type, is fantastic. The recipes are consistently reliable and are not fussy.
Although this has been out of print for years, it is well worth seeking out at Goodwill, library sales, and the like. I find the basic nature of the recipes very easy to adapt to my needs (gluten-free and vegan), and the index is excellent.
